Recovery Specialist I

Position Summary: + Job Title: Recovery Specialist I + Full Time or Part Time: Full-time + Temporary/Seasonal/Regular: Temporary + Compensation: $35-37/hour + Travel/Location: Remote with travel to work onsite in FL locations up to 50% + Benefits Summary: Temporary positions are not eligible for benefits except where required by law. Mission of Role/Position Summary: The Recovery Specialist I is responsible for assisting the company in all matters of corporate operations, communications, workload and resource management, and all special projects. This position provides advice and analytical services to private businesses and government agencies on how to deal with emergency situations, functions, or disciplines. Will also advise them on how to improve the plan or procedure for different types of emergencies. You may also help organizations or communities prepare grant applications or other financial requests to state and federal agencies to improve disaster preparedness. Each Program Specialist will have a specific work portfolio based on skills sets and needs. Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities: Reasonable accommodation will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the following essential functions: + Provide subject-matter expertise in a wide range of duties directly related to grant management activities of the Stafford Act programs. + Provide guidance, oversight, and general assistance to subrecipients in preparing documentation, invoices, and information to request reimbursement for approved federally funded programs. + Conducts\ reviews of supporting documentation for the assigned grants to ensure that each subrecipient receives appropriate reimbursement for approved federally funded programs. + Provides reconciliation and accounting of supporting documentation for the assigned grants to ensure that each subrecipient will have an audit quality file. + Attend and participate in all assigned job-related training opportunities. Assist with preparing client training events, information sessions, and materials. + Use knowledge and best practices to consult on decisions of portions of project tasks and individual work assigned. Seek guidance and support from leadership on task priorities according to business and client needs. + During a disaster, you may be called into the field to support relief efforts or assist with organizing responses to support advanced roles in emergency situations and/or activations. + Perform other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position will not have supervisory responsibilities, but may serve as lead on projects with senior management oversight. Expected Hours of Work: Schedule may vary and require work on evenings and weekends and dependability and punctuality are paramount. Travel Requirements: + Up to 50% travel is expected for this position. + Must be willing to travel and deploy to client sites for extended periods of time. Physical Demands: + Mobility required on-site with clients. + Sitting or standing for hours at a time. + Ability to work at a computer for extended periods of time if needed. + Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. repetitively throughout the day and as needed. Working Environment: + Emergency management personnel may work in an office or home environment or be deployed to the field which may require working outdoors in adverse weather conditions. + Work may be on-site with clients ex: EOC, hospital, debris sites or local government buildings. + All AC Disaster Consulting (ACDC) positions are remote work site positions with the home location agreed upon at time of hire. + If the remote work site locations change, ACDC Human Resources must be made aware, and leadership needs to approve any site changes for business registration and payroll tax purposes. Requirements Experience/Education Required: + Bachelor’s degree in emergency management, public safety, or a related field. Equivalency: Professional experience beyond minimum requirements, in a related field may substitute the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis. + 3+ years of experience and knowledge of state and/or federal public assistance grant programs. + 3+ years customer service experience + 3+ years knowledge and/or exposure in one or more Emergency Management Disciplines. + Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel. Experience/Education Preferred: + Applicable Certifications: Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) + Demonstrated experience is working in at least 3 different categories (A-G) of FEMA public assistance. + 3+ years project management experience + Proficient with Salesforce. Additional Qualifications: + Must be 18 years of age or older. + Eligibility to work in the United States without employer sponsored visa is required. We are not able to employ those located outside of the US. + Must pass company and any applicable client background check and reference check upon offer of employment.
