Recreation or Activities Assistant Job Details Job Location Shriver - Devens, MA Position Type Full Time Education Level High School Salary Range $17.90 Hourly Job Category Education Description About Shriver Job Corps Center The Shriver Job Corps Center provides students with the opportunity to earn their High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED), and hands-on training in the following areas: Advanced Computer Systems Administration, Advanced Transportation Service Worker, Amazon Web Services, Carpentry, CNA, Computer Technician A+, Computer Technician Network+, Automotive Maintenance, Millwright Welding, Office Administration and Security & Protective Services. Our 21-acre campus is nestled away minutes off of RTE 2, and 2A on Jackson Road in Devens MA. We service between 200 and 300 dorm students ages 16 to 24 years old at any given time with rolling admissions weekly. In addition, we have amenities that are open for staff to utilize such as a gym, basketball courts, full service cafeteria and more. Position Summary Responsible for working with Recreation Team to provide students with a comprehensive and diverse recreation program. Promotes health and wellness through overseeing the recreation activities as outlined on the approved recreation schedule. Responsibilities + Assists with the supervision of a comprehensive and diverse recreation program. + Coordinates recreation activities with Career Prep and Social Development teams to include evening programming. + Coordinates recreation and leadership activities/programs with Center and local community resources. + Ensures safe practices and program compliance within prescribed safety guidelines. + Documents student participation and accountability during recreation activities. + Maintains inventory of equipment and material and controls their use. Recommends purchase of specific equipment. + Responsible for the overall appearance, condition and organization of the recreation department facilities. If covered by spousal or parental insurance plan the premiums are deposited into a retirement plan + 401k with employer match Education / Experience + Highschool Diploma or equivalent + Must possess a valid in-state Drivers License and meet Company insurability requirements + Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping and crouching. Demonstrates the ability to lift 40 pounds and / or the ability to assess the lift load in order to ask for necessary assistance.
