RECREATION AIDE (Golf Course)
Summary This position is located at the Casa Linda Oaks Golf Course on Naval Air Station Jacksonville, FL. The purpose of this position is to provide and maintain adequate supply of riding carts and range balls during normal operating hours and to clean and return golf carts to storage area, restock adequate supply of range balls for the next days use. Responsibilities Perform most of all the following duties, which are typical, but not all inclusive: Use a gas powered mechanical golf ball retriever to pick up golf balls and places golf balls in the range ball dispenser. Retrieve range ball baskets. Pick up range balls by hand that cannot be retrieved by the mechanical golf ball retriever. Clean, stores, and secures golf carts, attaches or removes the battery charger hook-ups as appropriate. change the practice hitting area to a new location daily. Clean the golf ball dispenser and performs preventive maintenance functions such as cleaning the gears, cleaning debris from the inside of the dispenser, and oiling moving parts. Check patrons to ensure they have paid daily green fees. Clean and stocks restrooms and checks sanitation during the shift. Empty trash receptacles and picks up papers, trash and debris around buildings and facilities in order to keep the outside area neat, clean and presentable. Clean and maintains shelters, and drinking fountains on the golf course. Replaces broken lights, paper products, and empties trash cans. Perform other related duties as assigned. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Combination of experience related to customer service and or recreation activity-based functions. Ability to operate computerized Point of Sales (POS) cash register and have basic math and cash handling skills. Must be able to work independently, make sound decisions and have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Knowledge of the goals, principles, techniques and procedures used in organizing, planning and conducting leisure time activities. Knowledge of the Navy MWR mission and the entire scope of Community Recreation activities and their suitability for individuals, groups, ages and interests. Knowledge of the functions, procedures, and operations of recreation activities. Must have strong customer service skills. Ability to maintain records, compile and organize data for reports, and perform research on recreation topics for dissemination to customers. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Knowledge of computers, office procedures and print production. Basic knowledge of local and Florida recreational attractions Ability to confidentially work with persons of different background to include military and civilian personnel within a wide range of rates and ranks, as well as military retirees and family members.
