Summary About the position: This position is located at the Info, Tickets, & Tours on Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan. Responsibilities Provides assistance to the Recreation Specialist with programming and operations of Kadena ITT's Local Tour, International Tour, and Ticket Programs. Assists Recreation Specialist with various personnel and vendors (both American and Japanese) in the planning and organizing of local tours to include preparing itineraries, logistical support, and Kadena ITT bus fleet schedule. Assist in researching and gathering information for future tours and travel locations. Make recommendations to the Information Ticket and Travel Manager, to include planning, developing and administering of a comprehensive and diversified year-round tour and travel program. Coordinate programs with marketing and publicity to promote tour schedules and travel information. Assist customers in making hotel reservations, providing local and international travel information, and aid customers with individual travel plans. Prepares and safeguards cash receipts and prepares daily cashier's report. Makes bank deposits as required. Performs as a tour guide or tour escort. May on occasions assist in driving a 15 PAX vehicle to support local tours and airport transportation services. Records and tracks daily tour sales. Responsible for the preparation of afteraction financial reports on all tours. Evaluates programs to ensure customer satisfaction. Resolves customer concerns and conflicts in accordance with guidelines according to program requirements. Supports the Leisure Travel Manager through training of tour guides who assists with tours. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: Must have local tour guide and travel reservation experience. Must have knowledge of planning, preparation, and scheduling of an actual Tour or Travel Program. Knowledge and understanding of Japanese business customs and courtesy, local tourist attractions and annual special events is highly desirable. Experience which demonstrates people skills; outgoing and approachable, with excellent customer service skills. Typing skills and computer knowledge is required. Must be able to read, speak, and write English. Japanese language skills are desirable. Conditions of Employment: Must be available to work an uncommon tour of duty to include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must have a valid Driver's license. This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. or U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation. All Federal NAF employees are required by PL 104-134 to have salary payments made by electronic funds transfer/direct deposit. Probationary period may be required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from hiring preferences and priority consideration eligible.
