Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the 92 Force Support Squadron - Arts & Crafts Center, Fairchild AFB, WA. Performs or assists in a variety of wood craft activities including the operation and routine maintenance of various woodworking equipment both hand and power tools associated with woodworking. Inspects the facility and equipment to assure safe working condition and cleanliness; performs minor repairs and adjustments to woodworking equipment both hand or power tools. Responsibilities Performs or assists in a variety of wood craft activities including the operation and routine maintenance of various woodworking equipment both hand and power tools associated with woodworking. Inspects the facility and equipment to assure safe working condition and cleanliness; performs minor repairs and adjustments to woodworking equipment both hand or power tools. Serves as wood shop safety monitor to ensure all customers are adhering to established safety procedures. Assist patrons working on woodworking projects. Collects, safeguards and deposits fees received from customers. Assists in inventories, maintains records, and assists or performs supply purchasing. Responsible for operating the cash register, collects money, makes change and issue receipts. At the end of each shift, closes out the cash register, completes required paperwork and submits entire package to supervisor. Assists customers in placing special orders. Maintains security of all merchandise, equipment and funds assigned. Provides customer service, answers telephone and assists wood shop users with wood craft skill development and wood working procedures. With guidance from the supervisor, provides demonstrations and guidance on wood craft activities. Maintains clean, neat and safe work area. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifying Experience: Practical knowledge of wood craft activities, rules, procedures and skill in the use and maintenance of various woodworking equipment and tools preferred. Physical Effort: Must be able to stand, bend, stoop for extended period of time. Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds and frequently lift and move heavier items with assistant. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
