Responsibilities The incumbent's responsibility, first and foremost, is to lead by example to shape and sustain a working environment most conductive to the successful performance of those entrusted to his/her leadership and direction; creating a positive atmosphere and culture within the Semper Fit Division and its constituent branches that reflects the pride, professionalism, sense of accomplishment, fulfillment, collaborative engagement, well-being, and wholehearted customer focus of its employees is the incumbent's essential purpose and focus of main effort. Serves as a Branch manager under the cognizance of the Director, Semper Fit Division and directly and independently oversees numerous facilities and activities to include but not limited to; a variety of hobby shops, community centers, theaters, marinas, extensive aquatics section consisting of indoor and outdoor pools; an outdoor adventure section, and a full-service recreation equipment issue section. Directs the planning, staffing, promotion, execution and review of the total branch's efforts through various sections and unit heads, in such a manner as to bring out the energies and talents of all employees' in the Branch. Supervises employees to include assigning and distributing work, coaching, counseling, tutoring, and mentoring employees; approving and disapproving leave, recommending and completing personnel actions, disciplinary actions, completing performance reviews, signing timesheets, training employees, keeping abreast of and actively supporting the principles of the EEO program, and prevention of sexual harassment. Must be alert to alcohol abuse and take appropriate action. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Ensures implementation of an activity safety program in accordance with the Base Safety Program. Advise employees of available safety regulations, instructions, materials, and equipment. Promptly reports workplace accidents/injury to the Human Resources Office. Ensures that safety training is provided to employees. Complies with OSHA standards and takes action to correct unsafe or unhealthy working conditions. Ensures employees understand safety infractions that can result in disciplinary actions and follows through with appropriate action. Ensures minimal loss of duty by complying with 'Return to Work' program initiatives and following up on employee well-being. Performs other related duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment See Duties and Qualifications EVALUATIONS: Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Four years related experience demonstrating a high degree of knowledge of managing a comprehensive recreation program. Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in recreation management or other closely related field leading to a bachelor's degree, from an accredited college or university is required. Knowledge of personnel management principles. Knowledge of financial management principles and experience in budget processes. Ability to supervise a diverse workforce. Ability to express oneself orally and in writing in a highly professional manner, to meet and deal with diversified groups, individuals, organizations, and to compose written reports and material clearly, concisely, and effectively. Ability to use a computer and various software. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20lbs may be required.
