Division of Operations:
As the largest team within the DCR structure, the Division of Operations is the cornerstone of the agency. Home to Park Operations, Universal Access programming, Park and State House Rangers, Fleet, and Interpretiveprogramming, the Division of Operations is a main driver the agency’s core principles of outdoor recreation for all and creating future stewards. Through visitor engagement, educational programming, and lots of behind-the-scenes work, Operations keeps the network of state parks open, accessible, and welcoming for all.
Job Opening:
The Department of Conservation and Recreation is seeking candidates for the position of Recreation Facilities Supervisor II at the Melnea A Cass Recreation Complex.
Duties
Operates and maintains recreation facilities such as the Melnea A. Cass Recreation Center and Roxbury Heritage Park.
Monitors events and patrols facility during events to prevent theft and vandalism and to enforce rules and regulations.
Inspects buildings and equipment; performs routine maintenance and repairs of equipment and facilities within the Melnea A. Cass Recreation Center and Roxbury Heritage Park.
Operates such equipment as lawn mowers, grass trimmers, leaf blowers, snow removal equipment-snow blower, floor cleaners and hand and power tools,
Ensures the proper upkeep and cleanliness of facilities, including the cleaning of showers and restrooms, trash removal and exterior grounds maintenance Melnea Cass when needed at Roxbury Heritage Park.
Enforces safety rules and regulations Melnea Cass when needed at Roxbury Heritage Park.
Meets with community leaders and represents the Cass operations team in the planning and execution of public events.
Conduct daily recreational activities such as sports, games, exercise, arts and crafts activities and coordinates special events for program participants with the Director.
Maintains inventory control on clerical supplies, games and recreational equipment and identify maintenance equipment needs.
Leads public tours and provides individuals and user groups orientation to DCR, Cass and area state resources.
Supports the operation of Cass information desk including registering members, scheduling, answering telephones, greeting users, and serving as the staff liaison for permitees.
Collaborate as needed with other community organizations and agency departments. (
Performs related work as assigned.
REFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of the types and uses of handheld power tools such as drills and electric hand saws and small hand tools such as hammers and wrenches.
Knowledge of the types and uses of custodial cleaning supplies and equipment.
Knowledge of the types and uses of groundskeeping supplies and equipment.
Skill in the use of handheld power tools such as drills and electric hand saws and small hand tools such as hammers and wrenches.
Skill in operating equipment used in custodial work such as buffers and vacuums.
Ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with others.
Ability to deal tactfully with others.
Ability to understand, explain and apply the laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures governing assigned unit activities.
Ability to give written and oral instructions in a precise, understandable manner.

LICENSE AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIRMENTS

Education toward such a program will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed.
Special Requirements:
I. Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) Certificate issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
II. Based on assignment, possession of a current and valid Standard First Aid and Personal Safety Certificate issued by the American Red Cross.
