Nature of Work
Supports, assists and monitors all activities occurring within the recreational facilities. Provides customer service, maintains inventory and equipment, updates reservation systems, and participates in facility maintenance and care.
Environmental Factors
Work is performed in various recreational environments. May be exposed to inclement weather, hazardous chemicals or other hazards.
Physical Factors
Moderate physical demands including walking, standing, and sitting for long periods of time.Ability to lift 50 lbs. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and listen to participants and parents. Ability to observe surroundings and identify safety issues. Frequent use of a personal computer.
Work Situation Factors
Position involves competing demands, performing multiple tasks, working to deadlines, occasional work beyond normal business hours, and responding to customer issues. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity of services. Position is subject to drug testing in accordance with applicable State and Federal regulations and City of Las Cruces policies.

This position is a grade CN06.
Duties and Responsibilities
+ Assists, supports, and provides direction for the patrons and public in the use and operations of the recreation facilities for the City; monitors specialized programs and as assigned or required.
+ Provides customer service to various patrons and personnel utilizing recreational facilities; provides help with reservations and rental activities maintaining databases and records.
+ Explains and communicates programs, activities, rules, payments, and facility offers to patrons; assists with memberships, processes refunds, and performs other similar transactions; supports the front desk operations, answers phones, and performs any other activities.
+ Checks and ensures workout equipment is sanitized and that cleaning supplies are available and filled; performs maintenance as needed and able; maintains, cleans, and performs general custodial duties within the recreation facilities; uses cleaning equipment, materials, tools, and chemicals, and may perform minor repairs.
+ Guides, helps, and assists patrons and the general public in the use of the facilities and various sports and recreation activities; gives direction on sports, games, classes, outdoor activities, childcare, and other special events.
+ Monitors guest adherence to facility rules, policies, guidelines, and safety standards; manages emergency situations, evacuations, or other medical emergencies.
+ Monitors and maintains order amongst participants and spectators; assists and attempts to resolve various disputes that may arise with professionalism and tact; directs participants and patrons to higher level of authority when needed.
+ Assists with set up and take down of equipment for facility rentals, activities, or special events; keeps scores for sporting events and maintains accurate participant records and documents.
+ Participates in consistent training and development to improve skills and abilities; follows routine policies and procedural guidelines.
+ Maintains various records for inventory, general correspondence, activity reports, receipts, memberships, reservations, and activity rosters; sorts, distributes, and files a variety of materials and documents.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED AND two (2) years of customer service experience in recreation, retail, hospitality, or other related industry. A combination of education, experience, and training may be applied in accordance with City of Las Cruces policy.
Licenses/Certification(s)
Valid driver’s license may be required or preferred. If applicable, position requires an acceptable driving record in accordance with City of Las Cruces policies. CPR/FIRST AID Certificate required within 60 days of hire.
