POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under supervision of the Operations Supervisor, the Recreations Aide is responsible for all recreational activates, to promote a healthy lifestyle and provide a clean and safe environment through sports and socialization for all program residences. The Recreation Aide will monitor all recreation activities and assist with the planning and administering of the sports, recreation and leisure socialization activities within the program as well as monitor the care and maintenance of all program equipment. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. KEY ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Implement recreational programs to ensure that resident have access to sports, recreation and leisure activities.Assist with and programs local involvement in regional and territorial programs.Administer recreation programs to ensure that programs are delivered within guidelines and budgets.Prepare a recreation plan and facilitates specialty groups as needed.Be familiar with legislation, policies, procedures and rules about sport, recreation and culture activities, events and competitions.Record information on and prepare reports concerning community programs, costs, numbers of participants and equipment and program uses.Provide monthly and yearly reports about recreation program and opportunities.Ensure that all programs and activities are implemented according to relevant legislation, policies and procedures.Promote recreation and sport programs in order to ensure that residents are aware of available opportunities and activities.Maintain constant community liaison including contacts with local, regional and territorial sport and recreation organizations.Responsible for petty all cash transactions related to recreation activities.Reconciles petty cash receipts on monthly basis with Program Director.Implements activities which promote involvement with community, interpersonal and self-care functions.Keeps recreation facility in a clean and orderly conditionOrganize and obtain supplies and equipment as requestedKeeps daily attendance and document residents' participation in activitiesOther duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

Two (2) to Three (3) years previous relevant experience Behavioral Health environment required.Bilingual Spanish RequiredHigh School Diploma or an equivalent related field required.Associated Degree required or Bachelors Degree in a related field preferred.Valid New York State Driver License required.Ability to use business acumen to exercise good judgment and decision-making.Ability to deal with sensitive issues with diplomacy and discretion.Must be able to multi task with strong organizational skills.Excellent interpersonal skills and able to communicate both verbally and in written form.Commitment to cultural diversity and sensitivity.Ability to maintain a professional demeanor under pressure, and operate with a keen sense of urgency and commitment to quality
