Essential Functions • Monitors conduct and activities of park visitors; responds to situations involving disruptive behavior, suspicious behavior, potential medical problems, or other problems; reports problems to appropriate personnel; initiates calls for police, fire, or emergency medical services as needed. • Coordinates the operation of the County’s park facilities; performs customer service, office and/or cashier function; opens/closes park facilities; unlocks/locks doors and turns lights on/off; monitors facilities and amenities; records/calculates visitor counts and daily usage of facilities, explains facility procedures, rules, and regulations to visitors; reports problems to park ranger. • Reviews and schedules/reserves for the use of park facilities for individuals or organizations. • Ensure the cleanliness of offices and community center facilities; cleans, vacuums, and/or waxes floors; dusts fixtures and furniture; cleans counters; empties trash; freshens bathrooms; stocks supplies; maintains grounds; sweeps and blows debris; cleans windows. • Provides first aid assistance to patrons as needed. If assigned to childcare: • Oversees the activities of the children under supervision at all times in the facility; supervises proper use, storage and care of equipment and supplies at the facility. • Follows safety procedures, utilizes safety equipment, and monitors environment to ensure safety of children, other employees, and other individuals; adheres to Department of Children and Families (DCF) policies and procedures for childcare at all times. • Reports major problems, concerns and accidents to supervisors and/or site director; prepares accident reports, discipline reports, attendance reports, DCF reports and evaluation reports to submit to supervisor and/or parents of the children; maintains a daily sign in/sign out record of all children at the facility. • Oversees afterschool and summer camp programs; creates an atmosphere of fun, cooperation, fairness and learning for the patrons of the afterschool and summer camp programs. • Prepares weekly schedule of events for the children of the after-school programs including but not limited to arts and crafts, basketball, football, volleyball and soccer; arrives on time or ahead of schedule to prepare for the daily activities such as setting up tables and chairs and/or picking up trash inside and outside of the facility; monitors children at school sites prior to bus arrival; provides fair and consistent discipline; monitors children to ensure safety; mentors children; communicates with parents; takes and records attendance; maintains sanitary conditions; organizes program supplies. • Adheres to rules, regulations and procedures on a daily basis including proper disciplinary procedures; proper use and storage of equipment; the application of first aid and CPR; attendance at any and all counselor meetings; proper and accurate use of timecards and reports and proper use of forms. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS • Monitors activities at park entrance; counts vehicles and pedestrians entering park; checks cars for pets. • May inspect equipment for safety; makes minor repairs to equipment. • May order and/or procure supplies for job tasks. • May prepare, copies, and distributes flyers, programs, calendars, or other information regarding park events/activities; posts informational signs/flyers for customer reference. • May prepare records and reports pertaining to use of park facilities. • Monitors inventory levels of forms, supplies, and materials; ensures availability of adequate supplies and materials to conduct work activities; initiates requests for new/replacement materials; receives and distributes incoming deliveries. • Performs other related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications • Must be sixteen (16) years of age. • High school diploma or GED preferred. • Six (6) months of customer service experience preferred. • Fingerprinting Required. LICENSES/CERTIFICATES • Must possess and maintain First Aid and CPR certifications. • May require possession and maintenance of a valid Florida Driver’s License with any applicable endorsement(s) to drive a County vehicle as provided in CMA 5805. • If assigned to childcare: • Must successfully complete a 40-hour childcare class to comply with DCF policies within 90 days from hire date. • CDA preferred. Supplemental information + Salary offers above the minimum pay grade may be considered based on qualifications. + Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared or declared emergency.
