Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation Facility (Rod & Gun) at Fort Dix, NJ. Responsibilities Oversees the maintenance of the equipment, facilities, and grounds of the Range 14 Recreational shooting areas to include fixed shooting range, outdoor archery, and skeet and trap areas. Ensures timely accomplishment of work assignments. Submits operational budgets for equipment, material, supplies, services, etc. to accomplish maintenance and effective operational management. Submits timely marketing materials for program enhancement. Reports and answers financial inquiries in a timely manner. Trains team members on how to do tasks properly and safely. Informs Outdoor Recreation Director on the progress of assignments and contributions of the team. Trains team on proper set up and take down of recreation areas for scheduled activities; recording attendance; taking reservations and payment for rentals and sales; trains employees to be range safety officers for recreational shooting ranges, notification of participant schedule changes; issuing rental times for shooting stations and skeet fields, charging rentals out to participants, and checking them for condition on their return; and manufacturing targets for resale. Maintains current knowledge on areas of responsibility and answers questions of staff/customers. Manages Key Control and alarm system for Range 14. Coordinates with Community Services Flight Director to provide equipment to support JB Events. Oversees the delivery, issue, return or pick up of rental equipment. Follows Outdoor Recreation Operating Instructions and applicable Department of Air Force Instructions. Leads Outdoor Recreation staff, other FSS employees and volunteers to accomplish the mission. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Qualifying Experience: This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 SEP 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Practical knowledge of recreational shooting activities, range safety, rifle/pistol, skeet and trap, artillery, paintball, rules and procedures. Three (3) years of progressive responsibility of administration, professional, technical or other work which has provided general knowledge of management principles and practices. Must be at least 18 years of age. Must have, and maintain, a valid driver's license. Within the first ninety (90) days of employment, must obtain and maintain throughout employment, a range safety certificate. Within the first year of employment, must successfully complete a National Rifle Association (NRA) or 2nd Amendment Range Safety Officer Training course. Must have the ability to speak, read and write English. Must be able to satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position. U.S. Citizens and Non-U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. Territory for three (3) or more consecutive years immediately preceding the start of Federal Affiliation or a signed memorandum indicating the installation's decision on the 3-year residency requirement. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Direct deposit is required. Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check. A probationary period may be required. Pre-employment requirements must be satisfactorily met prior to Entrance on Duty (EOD).
