Recreation Specialist V Print Subscribe Class Title Recreation Specialist V Class Code 9538 Salary $19.75 - $23.75 Hourly + Definition + Benefits Classification Description Summary Distinguishing Characteristics Positions in this band have considerable technical prerequisites. Work tasks require knowledge, problem solving, analysis, skills, and abilities typically attained through education, certification programs or extensive work history. This position takes direction from the applicable Division Manager and/or Supervisor. Individuals work independently through completion of tasks. Work Schedule + Less than 233 hours per quarter and may be year round or + 233 hours or more in a quarter with a maximum of six months employment or + Not to exceed 1,039 work hours within any fiscal year Essential Functions Include, but are not limited to: + Monitors a designated facility or activity site, program, and oversees assigned staff. + Reserves and coordinates requests for building, park rentals and recreational facilities. + Is assigned to a specialized area such as Cultural Affairs, Inclusion, Athletics, Parks etc.. + Maintain and keep program areas clean and organized. + Enforces policies, rules and regulations governing the conduct of patrons and staff. + Trains assigned staff as to job duties and responsibilities. + Organizes and implements specialized program and completes associated reports. + Inspects facilities and equipment to insure proper maintenance and safe conditions. + Maintains supplies and equipment for the activities + Greets customers, provides program information, resolves issues and refers questions as needed. + Creates and analyzes attendance and patron usage reports. + Creates documents using Microsoft office; word processing, database, spreadsheet and Powerpoint. + Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. + Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Age: 18 Education: An Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, or the equivalent in experience Experience: Two years of paid office or program support; strong computer skills; expertise in specialized area such as Cultural Affairs, Inclusion, Athletics, Parks, etc. Licenses: Valid driver’s license Preferred Certifications CPR/AED, First Aid Supplemental Information Working Conditions + Conveys and exchanges verbal and written information. + Walking, standing, sitting or alternate mobility for prolonged periods of time. + Walking/alternate mobility on various surfaces including uneven ground that may be slippery. + Work may be performed outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. + Handling objects weighing up to 50 pounds for short distances. + May work evenings, weekends, and holidays. + Meet physical requirements to safely and effectively perform assigned duties.
