Recreation Therapist Associate* - FT - Day
*Description* Summary: To provide activities and treatment to remediate functional abilities (physical, mental, emotional and social) and to assist in diagnostic and personality evaluation. Provides opportunities to acquire skills, knowledge, attitudes, and insights to function independently in the community and to practice learned skills. Responsibilities: 1. Support Recreational Therapist in assessing patients social, emotional, physical, leisure and cognitive abilities. 2. Support Recreational Therapist in developing treatment plan through writing goals and objectives; Assists Recreational Therapist in updating treatment plan. 3. Implements treatment with intervention techniques; conducts groups. 4. Support Recreational Therapist in developing protocols and selection of activities based on population. 5. Implements activity analysis as part of Evaluation Programs. 6. Prepares individual patient progress notes, discharge summary/planning related to leisure under supervision of Recreational Therapist. 7. Communicates verbally with staff regarding patients. 8. Maintains supplies and equipment. 9. Maintains network with other health professionals, activities therapists and community services. 10. Develops resources and contacts for patients community involvement. 11. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position. 12. Performs other duties as assigned. Education: BACHELOR'S LVL DGRE Other Information: Required: Knowledge and skill of group dynamics, professional standards, and community resources. Minimum Experience: three years Desired: Experience with psychiatric patients in an acute, in-patient setting. Bi-lingual Working Conditions: Manual: significant manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity Occupational: Significant occupational risk Physical Effort: Very Heavy effort.
