The Creative and Expressive Arts Therapies (CEAT) department at Western Psychiatric Hospital (WPH) is looking for a Recreation Therapist to join the team. CEAT department includes Art, Dance/Movement, Music, Recreation, and Yoga therapies. Including this position, we are a team of 8 therapists serving all of the inpatient units in the hospital. The CEAT department was first formed in the early 1980s and has played an important role in patient care throughout its tenure. As a team we provide on-unit interventions as well as some off-unit or multi-unit initiatives.
Recreation Therapist levels I,II and III candidates will be considered for this role. The title and pay rate (minimum rate for Recreation Therapist I is $19.92 ; Recreation Therapist II is $21.22; Therapist III is $22.92) for these positions may vary depending on education level and years of experience.
Purpose:
Develops and implements recreation therapy interventions to support behavioral health patients and to work as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Responsibilities:
Conduct individual and/or group therapy sessions effectively employing principles and foundations of Recreation Therapy Document in the Medical Record according to established guidelines including assessments and treatment progress notes. Document training and supervision activities according to established guidelines. Facilitate Recreation Therapy specialty training/orientation activities as requested by Supervisor Supervise Recreation Therapy students with oversight/support from senior staff and/or Supervisor. Attend department meetings regularly and interdisciplinary meetings and other activities as needed. Attend 1-3 unit based or institute wide in-services/trainings yearly. Adhere to hospital guidelines related to quality and safety. Request and care for supplies responsibly and appropriately with consideration for the safety of the patient population(s). Monitor for safe and responsible use of supplies. Maintain professional certification/licensure as per CEU requirements. Maintain ongoing communication with department and patient units. Perform assigned work in a timely and productive manner Performs in accordance with system-side competencies/behaviors. Performs other duties as assigned.
