Recreational Therapist
**Employment Type:** Part time **Shift:** Rotating Shift **Description:** Evaluates patients, designs treatment programs in accordance with the physician prescription, supervises assistants, technicians, treatment programs and maintains proper documentation as required by the department. **What you will need as a Recreational Therapist:** + Graduate of an accredited institution with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreational Therapy. + Current State of Michigan RT registration. + Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. **What you will do as a Recreational Therapist:** + Perform objective patient evaluations using proper techniques with accurate and valid results. + Retrieve and interpret pertinent information from the patient's medical record, seeking appropriate information from other resources for further clarification if necessary. + Identify age related differences within the persons served and adjust treatment style and expectations as appropriate. + Additionally, make decisions on whatever treatment style alterations necessary based upon the patient's physician and cognitive function. + Provide and/or supervise patient treatment. + Identify the need for orthotics, assistive devices, or home equipment, as appropriate for increased ADL. + Must be able to meet productivity expectations as determined by management each fiscal year. + Process patient billing as required by the department. + Maintain all necessary documentation as required by departmental policy. + Maintain compliance with reimbursement requirements and authorizations. + Initiate and encourage good communication and relationships with physicians and other healthcare personnel involved in the provision of patient care. + Participate in departmental programs related to student education, Quality Assurance, community education, etc. + Build on existing skills and knowledge through continuing education. + Adhere to the code of ethics adopted by the department and the profession and to all departmental and hospital policies and procedures. + Participate actively in the daily operations of the department and contribute to its compliance with regulations and customer service expectations. + To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the competencies/essential functions satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.
