Schedules appointments with the referral when necessary. Serves as liaison between patient and medical support staff with regards to referrals. **The value you’ll bring to the team:** + Takes accurate and legible messages, which include time, date and initials. + Answers non-clinical questions for patients and family members and routes all other calls correctly. + Understands guidelines for and appropriately uses the telephone system. + Obtains physician approval for referrals and hospital admissions. + Contacts insurance company for referral number or pre-certification/authorization. + Schedules hospital admissions, outpatient procedures/tests and notifies patient of appointment and referral number the same day it is obtained. **The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:** **Minimum qualifications:** · High school graduate or equivalent. · Experience with computers is required. · Knowledge of business office procedures. · Ability to type 40 words per minute accurately. **Preferred experience:** · 3-5 years medical office front office referral experience · Experience obtaining patient insurance information and authorizations This facility is an equal opportunity employer and complies with federal, state and local anti-discrimination laws, regulations and ordinances.
