Referral Specialist - CM Heart Assocaites

Central Maine Healthcare is seeking a Referral Specialist to join our team at the Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute!

This is a Full Time, benefits eligible position

This position pays $20 per hour!

Position Summary:

Serve as the connecting point for Central Maine Healthcare (CMH) patients and the referring and specialty providers. Provides a comprehensive referral experience to meet the various needs of patients, referring providers, and family members. Adapt to and manage the ever changing and complex services, providers, service locations and initiatives across CMH while providing the highest level of customer service to each patient. Responsible for accurate and complete work based on organization standards, policies and procedures, HIPAA, and compliance with regulatory agencies. The referral specialist performs all functions under guidance and direction from the Office Manager or Operations Manager

Education and Experience:High School Diploma Required, Associates degree preferredUnderstanding of medical terminology Required2+ Years of customer Service experience Required2+ years in a Medical Office PreferredPrevious experience with health insurance and patient billing preferred

 Essential Duties:Process incoming referrals including managing and triaging the referral que and wait listsBe primary contact for urgent referrals,contact urgent referrals w/in 2 business daysContact and schedule routine referrals w/in 2 weeksRequest/process medical records for external referrals, pull missing info from HINEnsure external referrals get generated as backup to the check out position.  Make contact, when necessary, to outside providers to ensure external referrals are processed in a timely manner.Monitor inpatient discharges to appropriate follow upMonitor Procedure (non-inpatient) discharges and follow up for non-CMHVI patients (ie: ED procedures) to ensure continuity of careMonitor CMHVI ED patient visits and ensure follow upED referrals for both visits and testingAct as the “liaison” for primary care, all referring providers, and direct marketing contactsStreamline VA and all outside referrals, and lead Network Integrity project management.Primary contact for Primary care referral questionsDirect marketing contactPerforms other duties as assigned.
