Refinery Manager
GFL ENVIRONMENTAL, INC.
The Refinery Manager oversees the GFL North Vancouver/ Heartland refinery operations. The Refinery Manager will lead strategy development for optimized refinery operations, with a focus on product quality, environmental compliance, reliability, and cost effectiveness. The Refinery Manager works closely with the executive team and other key stakeholders to align refinery operations with the overall business strategy and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. The Refinery Manager is relied upon for the effective planning, delegating, coordinating, staffing, organizing and decision making to attain profitable results for the North Vancouver/ Heartland refinery business.
Key Accountabilities
Overall refinery business unit accountability for performance, safety, and profitability.Monitor key performance indicators and lead efforts to optimize refinery operations, including production volumes, energy efficiency, and cost controls.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop short-term and long-term operating plans for the refinery units.Oversee compliance with federal and state regulations for refinery operations and maintain a safe operating environment for all employees and contractors.Monitors budget and operating metrics while diagnosing and improving processes, procedures, and performance.Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related fieldMinimum 5-7 years of experience in re-refining or petrochemical manufacturing, with 5-10 years in a leadership roleDemonstrated experience in developing and executing refinery turnaround plans, including project management, EPC coordination, and execution within budget and schedule constraints.Proven ability to optimize refinery assets to meet short-term and long-term operational goals.Strong communication and leadership skills, with a track record of building successful teams and collaborating across functions.Excellent problem solving and analytical skills to identify opportunities for improving refinery operations, reducing costs while ensuring overall efficiency and quality improvement.Skills & Attributes:
Proven leadership experience with the ability to motivate and inspire.Excellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong ability to plan, prioritize and execute.Excellent knowledge of refinery operationsStrong computer skills
