Refinery Operator I

We are seeking an eager **Refinery Operator** I for our **East Chicago, IN** location to perform and oversee various refinery plant operational duties within an industrial work environment while monitoring and controlling the refining/processing equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation.

+ Operate and monitor refinery plant equipment and processes according to established procedures and safety protocols.
+ Perform routine maintenance on refinery plant equipment and troubleshoot any issues as they arise.
+ Monitor and maintain process parameters, such as temperature, pressure, flow rates, tank levels, and chemical concentrations, to ensure optimal performance.
+ Monitor and control refinery plant emissions to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
+ Loading railcar and trailers
+ Communicate with other plant personnel and management to coordinate activities and ensure safe and efficient operations.
+ Complete necessary documentation, including operating logs, maintenance records, and safety reports.
+ Participate in training and development programs to maintain and improve skills.
**What does it take to work at Safety-Kleen, a Clean Harbors Company?**
+ High School or equivalent required
+ 3 to 5 years refinery or industrial experience preferred
+ Must be able to obtain a TWIC card
+ Forklift experience preferred
+ Able to follow direction and take initiative
+ Good critical thinking and problem solving skills
+ Confined space or hazmat experience an asset
+ Writing permits is a plus!
+ Must be able to multi-task and work well in a team
+ Knowledge of process control systems, such as distributed control systems (DCS) preferred
+ Work in all weather conditions
+ Must be able to lift up to 50lbs, climb on a ladder, reach, stoop, stand for long periods
