POSITION SUMMARY:
MPC’s Garyville Refinery is seeking a Refining Mid-Cap Project Manager. This challenging position is an excellent opportunity to gain experience managing mid-size projects and programs with a total install cost (TIC) typically ranging from $5MM to $25MM. This position’s main role is to develop and execute projects by applying the Marathon Project Management stage gate Process (MPMP). These projects involve a wide variety of refining process units and facilities and are implemented to achieve refinery strategic objectives including improving operational efficiency, increasing reliability, margin enhancement and growth opportunities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Apply project management skills for a portfolio of concurrent projects in different phasesLead the project engineering effort including coordination of Engineering Contractors ensuring timely, cost effective and quality-controlled completion of all phase deliverablesInterface with technical Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and other GVL departments including Tech Service, Operations, Maintenance and Construction in support of project development and executionLead Management of Change (MOC) requirements for assigned projects to ensure safety, operability, and maintainability in designReview engineering drawings for compliance with MPC core specifications and standardsConduct field walk downs and facilitate constructability reviews including construction work package (CWP) developmentProvide technical support during construction including timely resolution of construction Requests for Information (RFI’s)Monitor engineering and construction progress and develop strategies to mitigate project risks and areas of concernCompile project information into a Decision Support Package (DSP) for project approval to proceed to the next phaseConduct presentations to the Refinery Leadership Team (RLT) for progress updates and alignment on major project decisionsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited institution required. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical or Chemical Engineering preferred.4 years post-degree experience in a Project Management or Engineering role required.
