Refrigeration Technician

Compensation: $73,000 -$93,000 annually + Bonus

 

The Refrigeration Technician supports the Refrigeration Group and various Business Units with troubleshooting, repairing and calibration processes for refrigeration systems at a facility based out of Baytown, TX. 

 


Responsibilities


Troubleshoot, repair and calibrate Process Refrigeration Systems (Includes Start-Up & Shut-Down of Process Refrigeration Systems) Perform shutdown maintenance & repairs on Process Refrigeration Systems Provide maintenance, operation and emergency response for Process Refrigeration Machines Perform the transfer of refrigerants (ammonia & CFC’s) and refrigerant oils to meet Environmental Regulatory requirements Comply with the EPA regulatory requirements of Texas Commission on Environmental Quality & Refrigerant Compliance Management (ammonia emissions tracking & CFC refrigerant tracking) Respond to and mitigate leaks on Process Refrigeration Machines containing ammonia Read & understand P&ID’s & Electrical Control Diagrams Execute preventative/predictive maintenance, unit readings (SKF software) Write Level 2 Work Plans for ammonia related work on Process Refrigeration Machines       Minimum Qualifications   High School Diploma or equivalent 5 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of industrial or commercial large tonnage refrigeration systems 5 years of experience maintaining industrial or commercial refrigeration control systems (preferably in a chemical production or support facility) The eligibility to apply for and obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within a reasonable timeframe Possess a valid Texas Driver’s License     Preferred Qualifications   Associate degree or certification from a technical school or military technical expertise Possess a 24 Hour Haz-Mat Certification or be willing to complete the required training Experience in Screw Compressor Refrigeration (ammonia & CFC) Ability to troubleshoot Analog, Pneumatic, Micro-Processor & Computer Based issues Experience with Control Systems on Process Refrigeration equipment Experience with Absorption Refrigeration Units (ARU’s) Federal EPA Refrigerant Certification (Type 2 and Type 3 or Universal)     Knowledge & Skills:   Knowledge of 5S or lean manufacturing methodology SAP knowledge Microsoft Office and experience with computer-based training Fit tested for respiratory protection Routinely push, pull, and lift 50 pounds while performing normal duties Walk, stand, kneel for extended periods of time, climb stairs, vertical ladders, and work at heights more than 100ft     Candidate Must Have :   High School Diploma or equivalent 5 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of industrial or commercial large tonnage refrigeration systems 5 years of experience maintaining industrial or commercial refrigeration control systems (preferably in a chemical production or support facility) The eligibility to apply for and obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within a reasonable timeframe Possess a valid Texas Driver’s License The ideal candidate will have experience with anhydrous ammonia and will work 12 hour rotating shifts.
