*D.R. Horton, Inc.*is currently looking for a*_Region Counsel_*. The right candidate will oversee and coordinate all region’s legal matters with emphasis on land acquisition. Advise the Region President on all acquisition matters involving the divisions within the region.
*Essential Duties and Responsibilities*include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Provide legal advice related to land acquisition and development, including drafting contracts and related documents, working with division personnel, handling closings, consulting with and coordinating outside counsel as necessary
* Review and revise homebuyer contract documents; advise regarding RESPA issues and other issues
* Review and revise subcontractor contract documents, handle disputes
* Review safety programs, review and revise manual and written policies, handle safety issues including OSHA
* Review marketing contract and programs; draft documentation as necessary
* Provide advice regarding employment matters and issues; assist in drafting job descriptions; handle disputes, draft policies, involve outside counsel as necessary
* Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
* Ability to travel overnight
* Coordinate outside counsel as necessary
* Provide advice regarding legal issues in construction and warranty
* Provide advice regarding various other region matters
*Supervisory Responsibilities*
* May have supervisory responsibilities
*Required Qualifications*
* Jurist Doctoral degree (J.D.) or equivalent
* More than ten years of related experience and/or training
* Licensed attorney
* Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
* Proficiency with MS Office and email
* Ability to sit for majority of 8-hour workday; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision
* The noise level is generally moderate
*Preferred Qualifications*
* Strong communication skills
* Ability to multi-task and attention to detail
