Positions in this function research and investigate key business problems through quantitative analyses of utilization and healthcare costs data. Provides management with statistical findings and conclusions. Identifies potential areas for medical cost improvements and alternative pricing strategies in collaboration with the Regional leadership team, key functional (clinical, network, actuarial and payment integrity) leaders and market Health Plan leaders.

**Primary Responsibilities:**
+ Lead and direct a team of 4-6 local affordability leads who help manage business efforts to make healthcare more affordable for C&S Medicaid, LTSS and DSNP members and programs
+ Share accountability for health plan and regional medical cost savings targets for one of three geographic regions with market and regional senior leaders (CFO, CEO, CMO, etc.)
+ Attaining a deep understanding of specific market nuances & represents assigned market interests driving performance of project teams across enterprise
+ Driving affordability process in market, including (in process order, not by priority):
+ Setting up and managing trend reviews and affordability meetings
+ Aiding in identification of local affordability needs and opportunities
+ Maintaining clear lines of communication with all matrix partners to ensure effective identification & implementation of national, regional and local priorities
+ Challenging health plan leadership to consider new/different opportunities & implementation strategies
+ Working closely with UHC Finance & HCE to ensure rigorous, reliable processes for validation, measurement and forecasting of opportunities and results
+ Prioritizing affordability pipeline based on strategic and financial assessment
+ Converting meeting follow-ups and pipeline initiatives into data-driven action plans
+ Ensuring execution of strategic action plan while tracking measurable outcomes
+ Providing regular reporting and explanation of affordability results for the market

**Required Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor’s degree or 5+ years in healthcare and/or managed care
+ 5+ years of working experience within healthcare operations, clinical services, network or product
+ Exposure to Affordability concepts and processes
+ Experience with developing strategic objectives and translating into action plans and leading/motivating teams to execute plans effectively; flexibility to adapt and change direction as needed
+ Experience working within a cross-functional capacity and navigating a matrix organization
+ Intermediate or higher level of proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint
+ Willing and able to travel two or three times per year
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Master’s degree (e.g. MBA, MPH, MHA, etc.)
+ 3+ years of experience with Medicaid, DSNP or LTSS populations
+ 2+ years of experience leading large multi-level analytic teams
+ Experience executing and delivering on strategic analytical initiatives within a large-matrixed environment

The salary range for this role is $124,500 to $239,400 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with al minimum wage laws as applicable.
