DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities of this position consists of, but are not limited to, the following:
Develops relationships with carriers to effectively procure the space, allocation and pricing for the geographical responsibility
Negotiates and maintains competitive service contracts
Leads communication efforts with ocean carriers and commercial resources to optimize tender strategy
Builds strong relationships and supports teams internally (Branches) and externally (customers)
Works with sales and pricing teams to provide carrier data for bids
Subject Matter Expert (SME) for ocean export carrier relations and to present market updates to clients
Provides network with market analysis and communications
Creates professional presentations to be shared with network and customers providing carrier and data analysis to communicate risks and propose alternatives
Provide strategy and pricing for RFQ’s (within geographical responsibility)
Works with the restricted commodities team to review and approve restricted commodities requests for export
Expert knowledge in FMC regulations to ensure compliance
Subject Matter Expert (SME) For matters pertaining to ocean export operations
Develop, maintain and manage processes related to contracts submission, review, and retention i.e. forms, templates, terms
Identify areas for improvement related to C.H. Robinson’s contract processes and workflows
Collect and maintain company contracts, approvals, signatures, and related documents
Develop team initiatives, including taking on special projects as necessary
Assist corporate leadership to design and maintain FMC standard procedures and training materials
Enforce FMC standard procedures at the local branch, and throughout the global network
Team Leadership:
Outline employee role accountabilities and expectations; provide coaching and manage performance to ensure productivity, quality, efficiency, and service objectives are achieved
Hold direct reports accountable to successful execution of assigned duties and goals
Support the personal/professional development for assigned team. Coach and guide to improve performance and drive accountability. Provide timely feedback and problem-solving assistance via regular checkpoints and/or in response to situational needs. Understand development needs and create opportunities for experiences that support development needs
Provide coaching, guidance, and mentorship to team members to promote their professional growth
Conduct yearly compensation reviews for direct reports for submission to human resources
Encourage employee feedback through formal and informal channels. Acknowledge and act on feedback to drive a trusting culture of open two-way communication, inclusivity, and continuous improvement
Cascade communications on divisional and organizational initiatives to ensure employee’s understanding and alignment
Employ strong change management tactics to drive desired behaviors and results both for direct and indirect reports
Other duties or responsibilities as assigned according to the team and/or country specific requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
Minimum 5 years of product management experience
Minimum 2 years of experience leading and managing teams
Ability to travel up to 20% (within geographical responsibility)
Preferred:
Previous ocean export experience
Demonstrated negotiation, collaboration, and influencing skills
Demonstrated verbal and written communication and multi-tasking skills, including excellent project and meeting management
Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of products
