To be responsible for providing technical support, expertise along with tranining and guidance across a broad range of chemistry and environment related services in the MEAP region.
Positively contribute to the activities of the chemistry and environmental teams to achive our primary objectives of safety, quality, and service delivery that Element and its client require.
Responsibilities Reporting to the Principal Chemist to support the regions chemistry and environmental businessesAdhering to the Health & Safety and Quality standards within our ISO 17025 accredited facilitySupport the introduction, development and validation of new tests, instrumentation, and technology to our laboratoriesPositively relate and contribute to a multicultural working environment, with the ability analyse problems, troubleshoot systems solving technical issues related to both client and operational queries in a practical and timely mannerDischarge duties with a strong awareness of budget, timeline, and resource management for designated projectsTo undertake training & upskilling of colleagues on technical and quality related topicsAct as a subject matter expert for chemistryUndertake audits of technical activities related to chemistry and environmental servicesSupport IT and operational projects related to the development and growth of the chemistry and environmental operations in MEAP
Skills / Qualifications Proven technical skills, with the candidate having a minimum of 5 years’ experience, ideally 10+ years in a role that included significant aspects of method implementation, development, validation, and auditing of manual and instrumental chemistry methodsHigh degree of integrity and impartiality is criticalEducated to at least Degree level with significant relevant industry experience in analytical chemistryThe candidate must have extensive knowledge and experience of working to ISO 17025Ideally to be ISO 17025 Lead Auditor certifiedMust have a strong background/understanding/expertise in at least one or more of the following disciplines: Wet ChemistryInorganic instrumental analysisOrganic instrumental analysisMetallurgical chemistryEnvironmental site testingIndoor air quality testingIndustrial hygiene testingIdeally to have a strong working knowledge of all these disciplines, or as a minimum a willingness to acquire itStrong and determined quality focusA strong understanding and hands on experience of how LIMs systems and efficient laboratory processes operateSelf-motivated team player with excellent organisational and communication skills with an ability to work under pressureTo be flexible working in a dynamic environment where priorities may change at short noticeThe ability to work under minimal supervision and travel as required within the MEAP regionMust be fluent in both oral and written English
