Job Description SummaryThe Regional Coordinator(s) will assist in developing and managing the clinical clerkship network for third- and fourth-year medical students in an assigned geographical region – North, Central, or South; will be responsible to and report to Director of Clerkship Management Resources within the Clinical Resources Division; and will cooperate and assist other ACOM faculty, Divisions and administration to assure that ACOM’s mission to provide quality medical education for its third- and fourth-year students is delivered in an effective and efficient manner. Position is a full-time position (1.0 FTE)
Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide real-time counseling to first- and second-year students; attendance at main campus may be required at timesWork with region’s core site coordinators in counseling third- and fourth-year students regarding schedules, placement, required documentation; assist in changing or modifying schedules within the region when needed or with other regionsMaintain required record-keeping and databases pertaining to core sites within the region, including use of student scheduling and tracking softwareUnderstand ACOM Policies and Procedures, syllabi, and required student activitiesResponsible for ensuring preceptor capacity for current and anticipated clerkship needs for the regionAssist core site director(s) in planning and executing strategy to recruit preceptors; to expand the preceptor base; to foster a positive relationship with physicians in the regionKeep Clinical Resources Division informed regarding regional activities to be sure Division has an up-to-date view of clinical network program in the regionWork with region’s hospitals and their personnel to build a favorable working relationshipWork collectively with all region’s coordinators to maintain a cordial, cooperative, and productive relationship to assure the best possible learning experience for ACOM medical studentsWillingness to travel within region as necessary to discharge duties of positionPerform other duties to be assigned as necessaryRecognize that this is a new position and be amenable to revising a/o restructuring (the position) as needed

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The Regional Clerkship Coordinator must represent the institution in a highly professional manner.  Must be versatile, organized and possess the ability to interact in a flexible and positive manner with all contacts both within the institution and externally.

The candidate must possess strong computer skills (productivity and presentation software); excellent interpersonal, verbal, and communication skills; demonstrated ability to complete multiple tasks / assignments and meet deadlines; exercise good judgment and leadership skills; be efficient and very detail-oriented.

Qualifications:

Preferred: Residence in region to which assigned.

Required: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with health care professionals, health care providers, school administration, faculty, students and other personnel.  Knowledge of regional geography and ACOM core site operations. Basic understanding of clinical education, knowledge of health care delivery systems in the geographic area.

Minimum Requirement: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in the field of medical education
