Regional Director, Operations

The Regional Director of Employee Benefits (EB) drives strategic and operational initiatives within the EB Region, ensuring successful execution from ideation to implementation. This role involves providing thought leadership, implementing best practices, and collaborating with other leaders in the Employee Benefit Practice. As a subject matter expert on Health & Welfare Benefits, the Regional Director establishes performance metrics, coordinates account service teams, and maintains high-quality client deliverables. They develop and sustain relationships with clients and team members, ensure awareness of carrier products, and support new business generation. The role requires extensive experience in employee benefits management, strong technical knowledge, organizational skills, and relevant certifications.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

In partnership with the EB Regional Leader, drive the strategic and operational initiatives on behalf of the EB Region– owning them from ideation to successful executionDemonstrated thought leadership to include best practices, client expansion, ensuring Employee Benefit Practice initiatives are implemented, collaborating with other leaders throughout the Employee Benefit PracticeSubject matter expert on Health & Welfare Benefits, vendor/carrier products and services including, but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and voluntaryEstablishes quantitative and qualitative metrics, guidelines, and standards by which the region’s efficiency and effectiveness can be evaluated; identifies opportunities for improvement.Drive adoption and utilization of consistent processes, services, products, and solutions for proper client managementCoordinate work of account service teams to ensure consistent and high quality client deliverables, solutions, and servicesParticipate in the development and implementation of best practices and lead by example in demonstrating and sharing the importance of managing, developing and peer reviewing client deliverablesDevelop and maintain ongoing relationships with account management teams and clients to ensure teams execute on plans and deliverablesUnderstand available carrier products and services in the marketplace and ensure team and client awareness Partner with regional and national leadership to deliver and achieve broader Employee Benefit Practice goalsAssess the performance of team members and provide ongoing coaching and feedback for continued improvement Support the generation of new business by participating in prospecting opportunities with new clients as part of a broader team via value proposition creation, RFP/proposal support, participating in finalist presentation, etc.Assist with transition, onboarding, and integration of new acquisitions, and new hires

Requirements and Qualifications

BA/BS preferred10 or more years’ experience in senior employee benefit account management or consultative role with increasing responsibilityStrong technical knowledge relative to self-funding and stop-loss; strong working knowledge of alternative approaches such as captives, direct contracting, reference-based pricing, etc.Client-facing experience at a consulting company, insurance company, brokerageAbility to work collaboratively across the employee benefits practice both regionally and enterprise-wideStrong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple projects at one time and proven ability to prioritize competing requirements and deadlinesContinuous professional development in all areas of employee benefits with the proven ability to remain current with respect to industry trends,Commanding presentation and public speaking abilitiesAdvanced critical thinking skillsDetail-orientedStrong Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint skillsLife, Accident and Health Insurance License requiredGBA or CEBS Certification a plusProject management certification a plus
