What this job involves
This position is responsible for the tactical and strategic engineering leadership of a portfolio of corporate real estate and colocation data centres. The role ensures technical and contractual quality assurance on behalf of a client to ensure all properties are compliant to country, regional, global compliance, and technical standards. The role contributes to the day to day operational leadership, project identification, project execution, major shutdowns, design, commissioning, operations, energy & sustainability, statutory compliance, capacity management and technical subject matter expert. This role interacts daily with clients and account personnel for the corporate real estate and data centre delivery with a focus ojn the service delivery and broader strategic objectives.
Located in Hong Kong or Singapore, the Regional Engineering Director will travel as required within the region to enact the role. The role will directly report to the JLL Regional Operation Director.
Responsibilities
Provision of tactical and strategic leadership for a portfolio of leased and 1 owned corporate real estate building and data centres. Major works owner for APAC (power down planning, execution and new/refurbishment project management).
Review the maintenance/service practices of M&E contractors to deliver quality work practices in line with the manufacturer recommendations, established processes, tools and documentation.
Capacity and utilization coordination, reviews and reporting for office tenancy, Data Centre and server rooms.
Apply engineering regulatory compliance management for the portfolio of buildings, along with compliance to client-stipulated Engineering Playbooks
Incident management support including 24/7 on call for incident management in corporate real estate buildings and Colocation Data Centres and incident root cause analysis.
Coordinating effectively with the client to secure funding and approvals for improvement projects, and liaise with our teams, designers and consultants to ensure works are delivered to a high standard, and that any savings are achieved as anticipated Support and assist any installation, commissioning and programming of new office space to ensure plans, designs, scopes and goals are accurate
Technical reporting submissions for portfolio objectives, regular meetings and data centre performance
Governance of as built drawings and OEM information for APAC
Production and management of MOPS/SOPS/EOPS for APAC
Support for engineering standardization tasks across Asia Pacific
Lead regional technical training delivery
Work with and support regional sustainability lead implementing innovation programs and processes that reduce utility costs, decrease co2, increase productivity, produce cost savings and share learnings with the wider team.
Work with and support the regional sustainability lead to establish a Sustainability Management Plan (SMP), including legal compliance, risk management, internal reporting of energy efficiency, water use, waste and recycling metrics and programs and sustainable procurement.
Identify energy saving & sustainability initiatives and work through to implementation and validation with broader team.
Review of APAC maintenance reports to ensure maintenance is conducted appropriately and performance issues are actioned
Ensure the services provided through the Colocation Data Center operations team is in line with the master service agreement in the lease, business expectations and delivers sustainable performance and availability.
Review of Colocation Data Center monthly reports to ensure client standards are achieved Be the subject matter expert for all data centre activities and technical supports. Participate and provide guidance from design stage through the commissioning and handover of new data centres.
Manage capacity and utilization reporting for the Colocation Data Centers
Work closely with other IT Services teams to understand load forecast impact on data center capacity management
Ensure the SLA in the Lease / MSA is adhered to by the Colocation Data Center and escalate where required for any breaches or near misses
Provide regional guidance and oversight for Colocation Data Centre projects concerning new buildings and extension of capacity of existing premises
Provide regional guidance and oversight for commissioning and IST activities of building services systems in Colocation Data Centers Regional guidance and oversight of annual Colocation Data Centers Due Diligence inspections
Responsible to take part in regulatory and client audits for Colocation Data Centers Hosting monthly Colocation Data Center performance meetings
dentify, track and report any deficiencies in Colocation Data Center performance and provide periodic updates on progress Owner of all technical, contractual and audit documentation for the Colocation Data Center Review and sign off all pre planned major maintenance activities within Colocation Data Centers
Interested? An ideal candidate would need to have the following qualifications
Desired experience and technical skills
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related subjects
Minimum of 10 years of relevant engineering management, including Data Centre within scope, experience operating in senior leadership role
Thorough understanding of Data Center building services design and Data Center engineering management
Ability to identify and implement opportunities for operational efficiency/improvements and implement agreed solutions
Drive innovation / thought leadership / industry knowledge
Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, capable of interacting and influencing a range of stakeholders ranging from site operations staff and contractors, to senior management within JLL is a must. Proven capabilities in managing complex client relationships and competing priorities
Ability to develop and explain complex operational management information to senior audiences
Be resilient, with high focus on achieving goals
High energy, flourishes in fast pace, dynamic environments
Comfortable working in a challenging environment as part of a team and is comfortable managing incidents and service failures
Able to adapt in a fast-paced working environment and versatile in meeting client changing needs and requirements
