About the role

This role is instrumental in supporting and driving the Environmental and sustainability goals of the organisation. Supporting  the site Environmental managers and ensuring that McCain GB remains not only legally and morally compliant but sets McCain apart as delivering its commitment to produce Planet Friendly Foods.

•    Supporting the sites on all aspects of pollution control, waste management, and recycling.
•    Helping to support environmental and energy management systems to ISO 14001 & ISO 50001 standards.
•    Supporting our Internal continuous improvement programme and Resource efficient operations.
•    Contributing with compliance to environmental legislation, such as ESOS, UK ETS, CCA, and Renewable obligations. 
•    Driving environmental standards through internal environmental auditing.
•    Supporting our central engineering team on environmental considerations. 
•    Documenting policies and procedures for water treatment and environmental management.
•    Providing environmental training. 
•    Producing educational or information resources.
•    Championing environmental issues within the organisation. 

About you

•    Strong experience of working in the Environment/Sustainability field within the UK Foodservice sector. 
•    A track record of delivering accurate information and forecasts on time.
•    Knowledge of environmental legislation and obligations.
•    Knowledge of ISO systems.
•    High level of computer literacy and ability to analyse data.
•    Effective organisational skills
•    Ability to work on own initiative and to prioritise work.
•    Effective negotiation skills
•    Able to work and interact with others at all levels
•    Influencing skills

Desirable: 

•    Understanding of Energy & Water use plus CO2 generation.
•    Up to date knowledge of Sustainability measures within a food manufacturing environment.

WHERE YOU’LL WORK: 

We would consider this role to be based from any McCain location in GB. 

Ideally you’ll be based at our Scarborough plant in North Yorkshire. We opened this plant back in the swinging sixties, but it’s definitely not stuck in the past. It’s one of the largest French fry factories in the world and after a recent development, it’s also one of the most high tech. Our team of over 300 colleagues work hard to make sure the quality of our products keep our customers returning for more, for now and years to come!
