Apply now! **Location:** 1133 Kingwood Avenue - Norfolk, Virginia 23502 **Job Description:** **Position Summary:** This role is responsible for the overall management of the fleet and garage building maintenance operations in our east region. This individual is also accountable for identifying, designing, and engineering continuous improvements throughout the maintenance operation while ensuring adherence to compliance-related items **Here's** **what** **you’ll** **do:** + Recommend and track department fiscal budget and performance goals for the east region. Assist with developing department strategic plan, presenting internal and external department associates to improve operational efficiencies. + Oversee east fleet maintenance team to ensure time is spent on a regular basis with select mechanics completing assigned work orders, utilization, uptime of equipment, overtime, and vendor management. + Run applicable projects (fuel, facility, insource vs outsource, etc). + Communicate with mechanics regarding any concerns, resolving or making suggestions for change as necessary. A model team leader who demonstrates supportive relationships with peers, associates, and vendor community with a high level of integrity. Promote an open-door policy and team environment. + Ensure mechanical work schedules are aligned to accomplish department maintenance goals. Effectively coaching, training, and developing associates under realm of responsibility. + Oversee and ensure corrective maintenance and repairs are performed to documented compliance standards, efficiently, safe and in a timely manner on all transportation fleet and building equipment. + Ensure daily and weekly reports are complete and accurate via good systems ans processes, being communicated to appropriate associates in the departments within a timely manner. Monitor department Key Performance Indicators (KPI) metrics, making appropriate adjustments and/or recommendations to ensure financial goals are met. + Meet with various vendors of equipment, supplies and service, establish working business relations as necessary and make arrangements with outside vendors to handle special maintenance activities and repairs. Ensure billing invoices as received are processed within established guidelines and accurate records of equipment are maintained. Stay current with latest logistics technology; maintenance, asset tracking, fueling and on-board-computer equipment systems (MCMS, SCULLY, ECCO, XATA). + Oversee and ensure corrective maintenance and repairs are performed to documented compliance standards, efficiently, safe and in a timely manner on all transportation fleet and building maintenance equipment. Establishes, monitors and inspects the work. environment to ensure housekeeping and safety expectations are maintained. + Communicates cross with cross-functional teams and vendors (Penske) + Creating and guided by policies and procedures + Review and ensure department existing or proposed business process, financial and administrative controls are executed to reduce corporate liability. Recommend improvements in policies, procedures, plans and controls. + Schedule and plan department safety meetings with the environment, health & safety department to ensure regulatory and corporate compliance guidelines are met. + Monitor and work with the EHS safety compliance manager on Department of Transportation compliance issues (i.e., DOT physical re-certifications, mechanic license renewals, random drug screenings, and issuing proper paperwork to mechanics in a timely manner to ensure compliance). Review all fleet equipment and personal on-job-injury accidents with safety compliance manager. Participate in investigations as required, completing and distributing reports and making procedural and training recommendations based on findings and administrating associate counseling and disciplinary action as necessary. + Travel frequency up to 40% + Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed. **Here’s what you’ll need:** + Bachelor's degree (Preferred) in Business, Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain Management, facility, or related area or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Bachelor's degree preferred. + Five years of fleet maintenance, heavy equipment mechanic experience, or equivalent. + Ability to work a flexible schedule and must be available on-call during evening and weekend hours as needed to address issues (i.e., equipment breakdowns, weather emergencies, etc.); general schedule is Monday - Friday. + Experience with tractor/trailer maintenance, transportation operations, and related systems, expertise in governmental safety and regulatory compliance (i.e., DOT, OSHA, etc.), and/or equivalent certifications preferred. + Three years of supervisory experience. + Accountable for direct supervision of others' work activities. Ability to create an employee central workplace that demonstrates Knowledge of DOT & FMCSR regulations - Federal qualification for brake inspections - including air brakes Knowledge of equipment on-board-computer, dispatch, routing scheduling, warehouse management or equivalent + Advanced Communication Skills Knowledge of MS Office suite. + Develop, manage, forecast, and budget Organizational Skills (work independently) Ability to multi-task, handling any priorities at any given time. Prepare Financial Reports. + Ability to collect data, analyze trends (and make decisions), and Direct/implement programs. **Physical Requirements:** The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
