FOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). Of these stations, 18 are affiliated with the FOX Network. In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. These stations leverage viewer, distributor and advertiser demand for the FOX Network’s national content.

JOB DESCRIPTION

FOX 26 KRIV-KTXH and FOX 7, the O & O in Houston and Austin, TX, is looking for a dynamic Regional General Sales Manager to lead our broadcast, digital and OTT sales teams. The successful candidate will develop a strategy for success on every platform and coach our teams to reach revenue goals. The primary purpose and functions are to oversee the Houston & Austin stations’ broadcast and digital sales and research efforts by performing the following duties:

Maximize delivery of ad revenue budgets and share for the Houston and Austin’s DMA

Hire, supervise, evaluate and train department personnel

Develop fiscal year revenue and expense budgets that are reflective of station plans

Analyze and control expenditures of department to conform to budgetary and company requirements

Package, price and control station inventory to ensure ad share and revenue budgets are delivered and/or exceeded as planned

Prepare monthly/quarterly sales reports

Develop strategy for KRIV/KTXH & KTBC sales department’s business plan and business practices

Stay current with market place conditions, competitive changes and tactically adjust sales plans where necessary

Develop and maintain client relationships as well as agency decision maker relationships to maximize financial opportunities

Propose adjustments to Local Sales commission plan as necessary

Oversee traffic department and commercial scheduling to maximize revenue and to provide the best viewer experience.

Oversee political advertising efforts and comply with all FCC requirements relative to the Public File

Oversee credit and collections efforts and stay within Fox guidelines

Lead digital station initiatives with regard to maximization of revenue along with Regional Digital Sales Manager

Provide General Manager with monthly Sales information for the GM report

Work with General Manager and VP/Finance to develop impact studies that reflect the profit and loss of programming models

Provide assistance to station programming teams

Notify VP / General Manager of any department or personnel challenges

Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures

Conduct weekly sales department meetings

Local/national travel as required

Conduct in person meeting with staff and clients

Direct supervision of Sales Managers, Director of Traffic and other team members as needed

Other duties as assigned and deemed necessary

Requirements: This on-site position can be located in either Houston, TX or Austin, TX, preferably Houston. Five years’ management experience in Top 25 local television market preferred.  College degree in sales, marketing or related field preferred. Knowledge of inventory management systems, pricing strategies, budgeting, forecasting, national, local and digital media negotiation processes, traffic systems, new business development techniques, sales training, ratings systems and overall sales methods. Good leadership and organizational skills. Ability to make decisions and motivate the staff. Must successfully pass an extensive background check.
