Now hiring a Regional Nurse Educator at GRACEVILLE CORRECTIONAL FACILITY

Position Summary: 

Reports to the director, clinical programs. Develops and implements approved onboarding and continuous education to staff at designated Florida health services facilities. Responsible for developing lesson plans, providing education both in person and virtually, and providing feedback on staff performance in both clinical settings and through examinations and assignments. All work is performed in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA), MTC Medical, and Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC) directives. 

Essential Functions: 

1. Model effective oral and written communication that engages the staff, provide clarity, and provide effective education to all members of the health services teams. 

2. Responsible to assist the staff to develop an understanding of values, attitudes and ideas appropriate to the health care profession. 

3. Establish and maintain relationships with new and existing health services staff at all assigned facilities. 

4. Provide clinical, classroom, and hands-on instruction when needed. 

5. Evaluate care provided by staff and sign off on competency. Ensure standards are met. 

6. Orient staff to clinical area, demonstrate proper procedures, and teach duties. 

7. Maintain the professional practice knowledge base needed to instruct learners in health services. 

8. Communication with health service administrator, director of nursing, and director of clinical programs on all aspects of day-to-day interactions is expected. 

9. Work effectively with the regional quality assurance nurse to provide evaluations and recommendations on the current practices with a focus of achieving compliance. 

10. Provide support and instruct staff on the implementation of approved recommendations. 

11. Support the directors of nursing with educating staff on the use of equipment, supplies, and instruments. 

12. Routine travel to assigned facilities to provide close monitoring and support is required. 

13. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques. 

14. Maintain accountability of staff, inmates and property; adhere to safety practices. 

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management. 

Education and Experience Requirements: 

Degree in nursing, current, valid registered nursing license for the state of Florida or compact state. Must possess current CPR certification. Must work within Florida State Board of Nursing Scope of Practice. Minimum of one (1) year nurse educator experience or three (3) years of nursing leadership experience preferred. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.

Post Hire Requirements: 

Must attain and maintain appropriate facility security clearance. Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.
