**Job Description:**
The (Regional) Director for Nursing Professional Development and Practice Excellence implements the vision and strategy for nursing to achieve nursing quality, safety, and experience goals to outperform national benchmarks as set by the executive nursing leadership team. In partnership with the VP of Nursing Professional Development and Practice Excellence, regional leadership teams, and Clinical Excellence, this role is responsible for the implementation of Intermountain Health’s nursing professional practice, professional development, nursing education and training programs, and clinical research within their region.
This leader drives the regional Nursing Professional Practice Model and influences research, evidenced-based practice, and education programs, both to enhance patient care and to elevate Intermountain Health’s regional and national leadership position. Must live in the region of support.
**Essential Functions**
+ Ensures regional implementation of annual nursing education and specialty nursing education. Develops and ensures regional deployment of strategies inclusive of nursing orientation, annual competencies, mandatory education, new grad residency programs, preceptor training, clinical advancement, mentorship, and nursing clinical simulation.
+ Develops regional strategy and implementation plans to ensure all clinical education is aligned with nursing and enterprise goals, objectives, and strategic initiatives.
+ Provides regional input regarding care delivery model innovation, shared governance council structures and efficacy, Magnet designation, and career development/liaison relationships with nursing schools.
+ Provides regional leadership and direction for a sustainable delivery of nursing education and professional development.
+ Represents Intermountain Health nursing when participating in committees and workgroups locally, regionally, and nationally.
+ Accountable for leading and facilitating regional processes and systems to support nursing practice and research. Implements regional tactics for EBP fellowship and IRB collaboration.
+ Maintains effective, efficient process for developing, approving, and reviewing nursing policies consistent with available evidence, best-known outcome and practice standards, and regulatory requirements.
+ Assures consistent use of appropriate principles, standards, and techniques for developing, implementing, evaluating, and sustaining evidence-based practice tools and resources.
+ Partners with appropriate Clinical Excellence caregivers and leaders to implement nursing quality measurement strategies.
+ Provides analyses of results, accomplishments, and areas of opportunity across the region.

**Minimum Qualifications**
+ Master’s Degree in Nursing or related field. Bachelor’s degree must be in nursing if Master’s Degree is not.
+ Current state nursing license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
+ Demonstrated outcomes in quality management, patient safety and experience, caregiver engagement.
+ Demonstrated experience with change management and the ability to provide leadership in the adaptation and implementation of new processes and/or technology.
+ Experience leading and deploying clinical education and clinical practice training across a large hospital or system.
+ Experience developing nurse training programs in a large, complex healthcare system.
+ Experience developing, planning, and delivering education and clinical practice, competency-based education development, and student learning assessment (skills, knowledge, and attitudes).
+ Experience developing and utilizing technology-based instruction, small group education methodology, and evaluation.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Experience leading other clinical areas, partnering with physicians, developing clinical strategies, implementing operational plans, and measuring/driving outcomes.
+ Experience leading operational nursing or clinical teams in a large, matrixed healthcare system.
+ Experience with external entities that drive and support quality approaches and standards, including government agencies, academic institutions, universities and related organizations of higher education, and other public institutions.

+ Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, documents, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and be able to assess customer needs.
+ Frequent interactions with providers, colleagues, customers, patients/clients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, needs, and issues quickly and accurately.
+ Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use for typing, accessing needed information, etc.
+ May have the same physical requirements as those of clinical or patient care jobs, when the leader takes clinical shifts.
+ For roles requiring driving: Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.
$57.75 - $89.14
