About the Agency: The Idaho State Board of Education (Board) is established in the Idaho Constitution for the “general supervision of the state educational institutions and public school system.” State law charges the Board with the general supervision, governance and control of public schools and postsecondary institutions, including community colleges. The Board is comprised of eight members: seven appointed by the Governor, as well as the statewide elected superintendent of public instruction. The Office of the State Board of Education (OSBE) is charged with providing professional staff support to the Board and implementing the Board’s policies, programs, and initiatives.

Summary:
The Outreach Coordinator – Eastern Idaho serves as a regionally based professional charged with facilitating outreach, engagement, and support for programs, policies, and partnerships designed to increase the postsecondary-going rate for Idaho’s K-12 students and their families.
Daily efforts will focus on strengthening the utilization of Idaho’s Opportunity Scholarship and Idaho LAUNCH grant programs, increasing Apply Idaho and FAFSA application rates, and promoting the Next Steps Idaho brand and suite of resources through school site visits, trainings, sponsored events, and other related work.
This position can be based in Pocatello or Idaho Falls.
Responsibilities:
Increasing the postsecondary-going rate
+ Coordinate the effective delivery of all outreach and engagement support services on behalf of the Board in the designated, multi-county region, including but not limited to recruitment/awareness efforts, college and career preparation programming, state financial aid requirements and tracking and related data management, direct assistance for students and families, and documentation of provided services and related activities.
+ Strengthen utilization of Idaho Opportunity Scholarship and Idaho LAUNCH grant programs through increased Scholarship Idaho account creations, application submissions and completion of FAFSA and/or Idaho LAUNCH Career Pathway Plan activities required for program eligibility.
+ Assist in implementation of Idaho Campus Choice the Board’s simplified/fast-track admissions program.
+ Strengthen utilization of Apply Idaho the state’s free common application for ten (10) in-state postsecondary institutions.
+ Increase awareness of non-traditional postsecondary options such as apprenticeships, licensing programs and industry certifications.
Communicate the value of Postsecondary Education
+ Serve as the Idaho State Board of Education outreach liaison to regionally and nationally based education, non-profit, employer, government, and philanthropy partners.
+ Strengthen the awareness and utilization of Next Steps Idaho, the state’s comprehensive clearinghouse of resources and tools pertaining to education, training, and career exploration.
+ Assist in the development, coordination, and statewide distribution of print, online, and in-person resources promoting postsecondary education and career planning, college applications, FAFSA filing, scholarship applications, enrollment, degree and credential completion, and graduate retention.
+ Deliver a variety of outreach and engagement efforts for Idaho students on behalf of the Board via staff, presentations, programs, events, trainings, and direct support.
+ Utilize data from the Idaho Department of Education, Idaho Department of Labor and postsecondary institutions to prepare middle school and high school students for participation in programs designed to increase postsecondary attainment.
Constituent Development & Engagement
+ Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with internal and external constituencies.
+ Manage collaborative partnerships with regional- and local-level schools/districts, youth-serving organizations, campuses, businesses, and other community organizations to provide support services for students and families.
+ Engage external partners in the development and delivery of career exploration, college and scholarship application activities and services for all students in collaboration with local school districts.
Training, Administration, Technical Assistance & Support
+ Maintain thorough knowledge of all Board-related programs, materials, and references, including all related laws, rules, and regulations.
+ Design, schedule and implement relevant training and technical assistance presentations for K-12 schools, campuses, community partners and other key stakeholders.
+ Facilitate increased awareness, understanding, and consistent implementation of state policies that impact the success of Board transition programs and diverse student populations.
+ Assist with the management of central email inboxes and phone lines, delivering exceptional customer service.
+ Maintain site visit, training and event attendance records.
+ May counsel individual students, their families and educators regarding career planning and training needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
+ Knowledge and skills typically acquired through a bachelor's degree or comparable work experience in education, community outreach, case management, partnership development, public speaking, college access and success programming, or related field.
+ Good knowledge of training theory.
+ Experience performing needs assessments; developing training objectives and designing developing coursework and evaluating training.
+ Experience using a variety of training methods and presenting to adult groups in a structured learning situation.
+ Experience in communication, including strong written and verbal communication, public speaking, listening and information processing, and synthesizing skills.
+ Strong organizational, time management, and documentation skills.
+ Experience in technical proficiency, including the Microsoft suite, related office productivity software, and databases.
+ Experience managing multiple projects or objectives by setting timelines and priorities, gathering requirements, and identifying questions or areas needing clarity to execute objectives.
+ Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with multiple entities and agencies (federal, state, and local) to service the needs of program constituents.
+ Ability to work as part of a collaborative team and complete work in a decentralized, high-profile work environment.
+ Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle for required state travel.
+ Experience problem-solving.
+ Experience in program area training.
