Now hiring a Regional Quality Assurance Nurse (RN) at GRACEVILLE CORRECTIONAL FACILITY
Position Summary:
Reports to the director, clinical programs. Performs advanced technical and professional reviews of certification surveys, licensure inspections, and investigations conducted within the facility to determine compliance with health services-related state/federal requirements, ACA standards and the Correctional Medical Authority (CMA) directives. Performs in-depth analysis of qualitative and quantitative program-specific data. Interprets statistical evidence and develops work plans, reports, and documentary support for program development and assessment. Performs all duties in compliance with American Correctional Association (ACA), MTC Medical, and Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) directives.
Essential Functions:
1. Survey health-related areas of the facility for compliance with federal and state laws, regulations, and interpretations.
2. Supervise activities of the continuous quality improvement (CQI) Committee, including the quarterly mental health meeting: compiling and reporting statistical data; scheduling, preparing agendas and minutes, and sending the information to the health services administrator for distribution.
3. Review reports, medical charts, and other documentation for completion in accordance with FDC requirements.
4. Utilize FDC, Florida correctional medical authority (CMA), ACA, and national commission on correctional health care (NCCHC) audit tools to establish performance measures and process indicator studies.
5. Assist in the creation of corrective action plans (CAPs) for audit findings or deficiencies.
6. Communicate on a complex level with others (internally or externally) to provide, exchange, or verify information, address issues, or resolve problems or complaints.
7. Maintain current knowledge in assigned area by reviewing literature, attending meetings or seminars, or communicating with other professionals.
8. Interpret policies, procedures, rules, regulations, or standards for others.
9. Evaluate program, procedures, or processes for effectiveness and make recommendations to resolve issues or improve performance.
10. Coordinate with management staff to identify training needs and assist in developing and conducting orientation or training for staff; provide the oversight of verification of staff credentials.
11. Prepare complex ongoing or special narrative or statistical reports.
12. Routine travel to assigned facilities to provide close monitoring and support is required.
13. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.
14. Maintain accountability of staff, inmates, and property; adhere to safety practices.
It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Degree in nursing, current, valid registered nursing license for the state of Florida or compact state. Must possess current CPR certification. Must work within Florida State Board of Nursing Scope of Practice. Minimum of one (1) year Quality Assurance experience or three (3) years Charge Nurse experience preferred. Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
Post Hire Requirements:
Must attain and maintain appropriate facility security clearance. Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.
Education and Experience Requirements:
