Summary: 

Regional Safety Director carries out a wide range of functions in making sure that safety standards and procedures are always met and adhered to within Nabholz Operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Provide effective resource, leadership, support, and guidance to all groups throughout the company to grow a world-class safety culture through continuous improvement. Compile, analyze, track, and interpret statistical data to develop strategies and training programs that eliminate injuries and SIF’s. Effectively communicate safety related information to ensure all employees are aware of pertinent safety news, requirements, policies, metrics, lessons learned, etc. Assist with the implementation of the Safety in Design initiative that identifies and eliminates safety risk during the Preconstruction phase of a project. Provides safety and loss control training to employees. Coordinates with vendors, equipment & PPE suppliers, etc. to conduct product specific training. Work with managers to develop implementation plans for new policies, programs, and procedures. Work with project teams to develop and implement project specific safety programs for CCIP and OCIP projects. Serve as a point of contact for agency inspections, audits, and investigations. Assist project teams with the proper reporting and classification of incidents and provides advice on claims management. Work with project and specialty group teams to identify conditions which could produce incidents and develops programs to improve safety performance. Collaborate with operations to ensure safety is integrated in all company functions. Serve as trusted advisor to operations and assist them in executing the Safety Program(s) to achieve ZERO INCIDENTS. Participate in broad industry networks to exchange knowledge and information to develop and implement industry best practices. Attend conferences, seminars, and courses to maintain continued awareness of safety programs, trends, and innovative safety solutions etc. Understand and interpret local, state, and federal regulations and statutes relative to environmental safety, employee safety, and Workers' Compensation to ensure the Company is in compliance. Assist project teams and managers in the investigation of employee incidents and near misses, perform root cause analysis, and communicate lessons learned. Coordinate with Corporate Safety Director to ensure consistent safety efforts and methods are being provided throughout all operations. Must be willing and able to travel to other operations to provide safety resource services. Occasional overnight stays should be expected. Champion the incident and injury free culture. This job is safety sensitive for medical marijuana purposes. All other tasks as assigned.

Education/Skill Requirements:

Must have at least ten years of construction industry experience (or equivalent). Jobsite experience and work as a tradesman is required. Must have a thorough knowledge of state and federal loss control regulations, OSHA rules and regulations, and industry safety orders related to workers' compensation and industrial safety. An ongoing track record of professional development and continuous education. OSHA-500 certified preferred Other applicable designations and certifications that demonstrate competency. Must have sufficient oral skills to communicate effectively with employees and management. Must be able to perform mathematical calculations. Must have some knowledge of training methods and techniques. Must have computer experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point. Possess the character and unquestionable integrity to represent Nabholz and provide credibility for all work, reports, and analysis provided. Has the competencies to provide leadership to a business in a growth mode, is savvy, and possesses the business acumen to anticipate uncertainty, manage safety, embrace change, and drive sound decision-making throughout the organization. Has excellent managerial and supervisory skills; is a mature professional with excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work with all levels of the organization. Demonstrates significant problem-solving abilities and highly refined analytical skills. Works in a proactive manner and is a self-starter who approaches his/her work with a sense of urgency. Exhibits excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be able to assist in incident investigations, determine the causes of incidents, and initiate corrective action. Valid driver's license is required, and must meet the company policy requirements of a “qualified driver.” Requires good oral communication skills to communicate effectively with all employees. Bi-lingual preferred. Requires the ability to work with others under minimal supervision. Must be able to comprehend and follow oral and written instructions and procedures. Requires the ability to work in very stressful and dangerous working conditions. Must be able to comprehend occupational safety and health regulations, other state and federal regulations governing the construction industry, and company practices and procedures.  Must be able to apply these concepts to all operation groups. Must be able to use sound judgment, work with others and be a team player.

Physical Demands:

Continuously sit, stand, or walk. Bend, squat, climb stairs, or ladders. Lift occasionally up to 25 pounds.
