Regional Safety Leader

Primary Position Purpose:

Manages the company’s Safety program for a specific line of business/region and is responsible for Safety Performance results and loss outcomes. The Regional Safety Leader ensures that all facilities within the LOB/region meet company Safety expectations and are in compliance with federal and state law. Develop a Safety culture within the region focused on loss prevention.

 

Position Functions:

·         Counsel high risk drivers on all aspect’s safety related including items on risk analysis scoring. Serve as ultimate decision-maker to issue corrective action up to and including whether to terminate driver’s employment

·         Research accident types including frequency and severity to identify trends and provide recommendations to upper management to eliminate accidents

·         Evaluate and recommend changes to Safety Policies and Procedures

·         Identify and mitigate or eliminate risks/hazards/behaviors to avert losses

·         Provide Safety advice and guidance to all employees in assigned terminals

·         Audit training programs and Safety classes ensuring they are conducted as designed and directed by the Corporate Safety department

·         Learn how to represent the company as a PMK or 30B6 witness

·         Assist with various corporate Safety initiatives. Investigate losses within assigned business unit(s) and ensures terminals implement appropriate corrective actions

·         Audit terminal(s) for compliance with Corporate Safety Policies and procedures

·         Conduct on-site Safety audits and meeting with drivers and Office/Shop personnel

·         Provide guidance to terminal employees regarding local, state, and federal Safety related regulations, as well as Safety policies and procedures. Promote good relations with internal and external customers by coaching and supporting employees on how to find the best solution to Safety problems

·         Perform Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) audits at shop locations and promotes safe behavior amongst shop employees; place equipment and personnel Out-Of-Service when they do not meet OSHA or DOT Standards

·         Review various reporting on driver Safety (Drive Cam, IMDS, CER etc.) and direct activities to effect positive Safety outcomes; ensures coaching is effective and that the terminal meets company Safety expectations

·         Enforce Personal Protective Equipment usages by shop employees and Driver and Alcohol Testing is done in according with DOT and USX policy

·         Proactively work to assist others in achieving the organization’s objects

·         Frequent travel may be required due to business needs
