Regional Safety Manager

Position Summary: The Regional Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring that workplaces and job sites comply with safety regulations, identifying potential hazards, and implementing policies and practices to promote a safe working environment. This role often involves working with all branches and service lines within the region to ensure compliance & safety.
Job Responsibilities:Leads and manages regional safety program to develop the desired safety culture and achieve safety objectivesDirectly collaborate with regional leadership and Branch Managers with a goal of “0” incidentsAssess effectiveness of safety program activities, policies, and procedures, and work with the UES Corporate Safety Team to implement changes to improve results and achieve objectivesLead, manage, and organize the Mid-Atlantic Region Safety Committee ensuring collaboration with all appropriate stake holders and with the goal of continuous process improvement and best practice communicationAssist with integration of Safety policies and procedures with all current and future acquisitionsReport and track all work-related injuries including but not limited to safety investigations and documentationEstablish emergency response plans and training programsProvide safety training to employees on topics such as equipment use, hazard identification, and emergency protocolsWork with the Human Resources team to develop and distribute best in class safety training (including orientation), with continuous improvementsReview and thoroughly understand UES’ current Employee Safety Manual, while recommending needed updates and/or changes in policy or procedureReview and thoroughly understand OSHA construction safety practices relevant to UES and apply Best Practices to the operations of the companyProactively research changes in OSHA policies/procedures and implement such changes effectively and efficiently throughout the Mid-Atlantic RegionWork with Corporate Safety Team to Maintain and update OSHA 300 logs for the region.Lead investigations of incidents, near misses, and complaints regarding unsafe or unhealthful working conditions or practices and communicate findings with Senior LeadershipMaintain and update 3rd party vendor safety reporting systems to ensure project complianceProvide up to date safety documentation as requested by Regional Leaders, Branch Managers, Department Managers, and Marketing Team specific to projectsAttend required safety meetings for contractors and/or clients as requestedWork with Site Safety Representatives to ensure compliance Host virtual Monthly Safety Toolbox Training for the regionMaintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) inventory, training, and distributionWork closely with Branch Radiation Safety Officers (RSO) in the event of an accident involving Nuclear Moisture Density GaugesRun the Respiratory Physical Program for the environmental departmentOther duties as assignedRequired Qualifications & Skills:Experience as a Safety Officer/Director in construction or related fieldBachelor's degree in occupational safety, Risk Management or business OR equivalent amount of experienceValid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record Proficiency in Microsoft Office softwareFirst-rate interpersonal skillsExceptional organizational and time management skillsAdept communication and collaboration skillsOSHA 30 Certification, CSP (Certified Safety Professional), or other relevant credentialsPrevious experience in safety consulting, risk management, or a related roleAbility to read & write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memosKnowledge of written communication formats and composition, including grammar and vocabularyAbility to present to one or more people, including customers, clients, and other employees of the organizationAbility to speak effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and customers/clientsComputer skills sufficient to operate a laptop and cell phone, including sending and receiving emails, prepare and present PowerPoint Presentations, and learn Deltek VantagePoint softwareMathematical skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimalsAbility to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw or create, and interpret, bar graphsReasoning ability to handle multiple and changing priorities concurrentlyAbility to work with problems and deal with a variety of variablesAbility to apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram formAbility to effectively communicate about products, services, and technical requirements to both the client/customer and employees within UESPreferred Qualifications & Skills:Strong knowledge of safety regulations and best practicesExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsAnalytical skills for identifying risks and creating solutionsAbility to train and educate diverse teams effectivelyProficiency in safety software and toolsWorking Conditions & Physical Requirements:Required to drive, stand, walk, use hands to type, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance, talk, and hear.
