Scope of Responsibility: Reporting to the VP of Sales of the Utilities Division, the Regional Sales Manager will be responsible for proactively providing sales and market development direction and leadership for assigned territory. A key driver for sales and project strategies, staffing management, customer development, and relations.
Essential Duties:
Oversee the sales, business development, and customer relations, outside sales rep activities and is “hands-on” in each of these areas as required.Drive the planning and effective execution of business unit sales and market development strategies for assigned territoryDrive the contract management process by managing relationships and having a thorough understanding of territoryPreparing sales forecasts, analyzing industry and market trends, and acting as the focal point for ensuring that sales and marketing objectives are accomplished on time and within budgetManage assigned staff and outside sales reps providing positive, credible, and energetic leadership. Proactively provide training on company products and sales strategiesCommunicate performance issues in a timely manner so they can be addressed expeditiously.Provide timely sales and business development projections and reports for assigned territory to management.Territory Ownership around sales and market development issues. Recommend opportunities, product packaging, and surveying customer needsEnsure soundness and maintenance of key customer relationships and businessInterpret sales and market trends in assigned territory and make recommendations that focus on cost reduction, profit improvement, and continuous improvementAssist in the preparation and monitoring of sales budget and address variances and other budget-related issues for assigned territoryProved price management by evaluating the market, updating current agreements, and ensuring the accuracy of price model agreementsPropose policies and procedures to improve sales and marketing efforts and efficiencyEnsure compliance with all company policies and proceduresComplete other assignments as required and provide assistance to management when requestedAdditional duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
Education: Bachelors degree, preferably in engineering
Experience:
Minimum 7 to 10 years utility transmission industry experience, steel structure experience preferred3 to 5 years sales or market development experience
Skills & Abilities:
Ability to drive successful sales or market development by establishing goals and objectives, developing, and managing clients, building a strong sales force, managing customer service and project management activitiesAbility to effectively lead Cross Function teamsAbility to function as a change agent to quickly develop, organize, and streamline sales and marketing operations.Strong conflict resolution skillsStrong presentation skillsStrong analytical skills with demonstrated ability to assess a variety of abstract facts, ability to formulate reasoned alternatives, and positively communicate decisions and solutions.
Physical Requirements:
Demonstrated ability to work with frequent interruptions in workflow and constantly changing priorities. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time with the ability to move throughout the office or outside manufacturing plant as needed. Must be able to perform physical activities that require use of fingers, hands and arms, such as sitting, typing, using office equipment and reaching. Some additional physical activities may require walking, stooping, bending, twisting and handling of materials. Position requires manual dexterity, arm-hand steadiness and a safety-minded individual. Must have the ability to concentrate on tasks for long periods of time and be able to observe and receive information from all relevant sources. Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing as well as answer telephones and greet customers
