Regional Security Manager, Mexico & ACAC
**About the Role** The mission of Uber’s Global Security Team is to protect our people, places, platforms, and communities. As the Regional Security Manager (RSM) for Mexico and ACAC, you will work closely with your team and the Director of Global Security for the Americas, overseeing the security of Uber's people, properties, and assets throughout the region. You will work cross functionally with local and regional leadership and stakeholders to support and execute on globally focused projects and assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of all security processes and programs across the region. The right person will thrive in an "all hands on deck" environment, enjoy finding creative solutions to complex problems, and can move decisively to protect our people, assets and reputation. We're seeking a passionate, highly motivated and detail-oriented security professional to provide practical, physical security support to the team, managing metrics while ensuring accuracy, completeness and integrity. You will provide guidance, support and make recommendations to resolve physical security concerns. The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent judgment, work well under pressure, prioritize effectively, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and work collaboratively with stakeholders across the globe. You will provide expertise as we work to help solve challenges which deliver significant business value. You will be an effective communicator with the ability to explain Uber's complex data in a clear and concise manner. This role is an in person role in Mexico City, Mexico, which requires travel to Uber sites throughout the Mexico, Andes, Central America, and Caribbean (ACAC) region. **What the Candidate Will Do** Uber Regional Security Managers are accountable for executing the Global Security strategy and programs across all Uber businesses within their respective Area of Operations (AOR). **The core functions** of the Regional Security Manager include, but are not limited to: - Personnel security and safety - Facility security - Incident response - Assessment and management of security risks - Vendor management - Security training and awareness for staff - Crisis management **Specific responsibilities and accountabilities** (not all-inclusive, performed within delegated authority): - React promptly to any urgent security event/incident/crisis that takes place in the AOR and lead the effort until successful resolution. - Lead a key role as part of Global Security, collaborate to develop enterprise-wide policies/programs, and create internal operating procedures - Be the subject matter expert on macro-level security issues and trends taking place across the respective AOR; pro-actively communicate issues and recommend mitigating measures to address security concerns and enable/support business operations - Provide leadership of the regional security team, consisting of FTE and/or EXT staff, and ensure the effective management of all security activity and resources to support programs and operations in the respective AOR - Provide technical advice, guidance, and support e.g. operational security requirements, security assessments, and plans to the regional stakeholders, contributing to the development of the regional strategy, policy, and planning - Work in close collaboration with internal Trust & Security counterparts to align security activities with wider (global) programs - Manage all crises and critical incidents - Work in close collaboration with internal regional counterparts (Ops, CommOps, Workplace, Mobility, Grocery & Retail, Legal, HR, etc.) to align security activities with wider company/regional programs - Identify and manage security (guarding) vendors, to ensure efficiency, quality, and consistency of services in alignment with Global Security standards - Oversee and prepare accurate and timely reporting that enables informed decision-making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders - Support the monitoring and evaluation of security activities, providing technical analysis, data and metrics, interpretation, and information as required to support the assessment of activity impact - Develop and maintain key professional networks that can benefit Uber - Be proficient in Uber business functions operating in the respective AOR and develop professional working relationships with all functional leaders - Create a yearly regional security strategy plan, based on the Global Security strategy - Provide quarterly operational reviews to the Global Security Leadership - Establish professional business relationships with geographical and functional leaders in the respective AOR - Contribute to managing the regional security budget **Basic Qualifications** - 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in military, security, or law enforcement - Ability to manage security challenges in a constantly changing fast-paced environment - Recent hands-on experience in LATAM is mandatory and broader experience outside the region is a bonus - Experience managing contract security services. - Spanish and English fluency in written and verbal communication is mandatory. - Excellent communicator; must be articulate and persuasive with the ability to communicate at all levels, both internally and externally. - Proven ability to work with large data and experience identifying and driving process and system improvement opportunities by monitoring metrics, analyzing data, and partnering with internal teams. - Capable of fostering a culture of Trust, Honesty, and Integrity. - Ability to work long and flexible hours under pressure. - Travel required as needed to get things done. **Preferred Qualifications** - Creative 'can do' attitude towards problem-solving - Attention to detail in both written and oral communication - Able to scale with the business and thrive in a rapid growth environment. - Project management and reporting skills - A well-established professional network of security contacts within the region - Working knowledge of local laws and regulations We welcome people from all backgrounds who seek the opportunity to help build a future where everyone and everything can move independently.
