Position Summary:

Responsible for providing quality nutrition care in the inpatient and outpatient setting to promote the nutritional wellbeing of patients.

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited program with a Bachelors, Masters or Doctorate degree related to DieteticsCurrent credentialing with the Commission on Dietetic Registration and licensure by the State of Oregon as a dietitianCertified Diabetes Educator preferredTwo years of experience as a clinical dietitian in acute care preferredObtain BLS certification within 3 months of hire and maintain as current

Essential Job Functions:

Assumes responsibility for clinical competency and professional developmentCollects and analyzes relevant patient information including medical/social history, lab values, anthropometric data, diet history and medications. Estimates patient nutrient needs using evidence-based guidelines.Analyzes information to identify nutrition problems and develop appropriate care plans.Responds to all RD referrals/consults and completes clinical documentation within established timeframes per hospital policy.Provides nutrition education to patients, family members; evaluates effectiveness of teaching; provides follow-up recommendations as needed. Assists with the development of ongoing nutrition programs (including but not limited to the Weight Loss Surgery Program and Diabetes Self-Management Education program).Coordinates nutrition care plans and advocates for patient nutrition needs among the multidisciplinary team.Supervise patient tray line assembly to check meal trays for quality, accuracy, diet order and food allergies.Communicates problems/concerns with Manager of Nutrition Services and Manager of Therapy Services.
