Located in Hamilton's downtown core, the Satellite Health Facility (SHF) team provides care for low acuity and Alternate Level of Care (ALC) patients. Generally, patients transferred from other HHS sites to the SHF are waiting for: Home with Home Care supports, Transitional Care, Long-Term Care or require time to convalesce after an acute care admission. The SHF team is critical to achieving HHS' vision of "Best Care for All" - supporting HHS patients to receive the right care in the right place
The Satellite Health Facility operates within the Community and Population Health Services Program, under the Director of Community and Population Health Services. Clinical Managers provide day-to-day leadership and direction for the team and supporting staff. The SHF is comprised of full-time and part-time Nursing staff, Allied Health Professionals and Healthcare Aides supporting Inpatient services.
As a member of the Satellite Health Facility, the Registered Dietitian is responsible for the nutritional care of patients through assessment of nutritional status, prescription, implementation and management of nutrition care plans, counseling and teaching. In addition to patient care, the Dietitian provides leadership and direction in education related to applied nutrition care and may also participate in applied research and clinical studies. The Dietitian will participate in student education, as appropriate, including the training of dietetic interns.

2. Baccalaureate degree in Applied Human Nutrition or Baccalaureate of Science and successful completion of dietetic internship
3. Enteral and parental nutrition support experience
4. Experience and skills in teaching
5. Knowledge, skills and abilities in dietetic assessment, treatment and counseling patients and their families
6. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced changing environment
7. Excellent communication, interpersonal, teamwork, problem-solving, negotiation and decision-making skills
