Ward C3 is an inpatient unit that offers acute care services to both oncology (solid tumor malignancies) and GI patients. The unit is comprised of diverse services including: medical oncology, radiation oncology, gynecology oncology, and GI. The goal of oncological therapy is cure, symptom management and pain control or palliation. GI patients often are admitted for a flare related to a chronic disease (Crohn’s, Ulcerative Colitis) and may require medical intervention.
As a member of the healthcare team, using a client-Centered approach, the Registered Dietitian is responsible for thenutritional care of patients through assessment of nutritional status, prescription, implementation and management ofnutrition care plans, counseling and teaching. In addition to patient care, and may also participate in applied research andclinical studies. The Dietitian will also participate in student education, as appropriate, including the training of dieteticinterns. The Dietitian should exhibit advanced skills in parenteral and enteral nutrition in complex gastrointestinal patients.

1. Current registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario or eligibility for registration
2. Baccalaureate degree in Applied Human Nutrition or Baccalaureate of Science and successful completion of Dietetic
Internship
3.Previous experience with digestive diseases patients, and with enteral and parenteral nutrition
4. Knowledge of principles and practical application of applied and therapeutic nutrition
5. Demonstrated clinical evaluation and critical appraisal skills
6. Computer and Medline search skills
7. Demonstrated initiative and ability to function independently
8. Excellent communication, teamwork, problem-solving and organizational skills
9. Ability to teach and facilitate the learning of dietetic interns
10. Membership with Dietitians of Canada required
