The Registered Dietitian will work under the direction of the Food and Nutrition Director and is responsible for the implementation of nutrition services for the AOBH program and nutrition counseling for the 29I pediatric program.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

Provide nutrition training and education for residential staff addressing issues of food safety, balanced meal planning and healthy snack alternatives as well as any special diets that residents may require.Provide nutrition demonstrations and trainings for residents including portion control, exercise, overall healthy eating, food shopping and making simple meals.Make routine site visits to residential facility and review kitchens to ensure all dietary guidelines are followed.Provide one-on-one virtual nutritional counseling for parents and children for the 29i program. Consults for referral will be by MD or PNP based on screening criteria. The dietitian will assess their nutrition risk along with plan diet and recommendations. Follow ups according to the level of risk for each individual. Medical issues in this community are mostly Overweight/Obesity, Diabetes, Underweight, Failure to Thrive and High cholesterol/blood pressure.Conduct cooking demonstrations or other nutrition events for staff and residentsReport to NYC office location one day per week to collaborate with team and supervisor.

 

Functions:

Provide nutritional counseling and support to at-risk clientsContinuously follow patients for ongoing nutrition supportLead the educational initiative on healthy eating for staff and residents of the AOBH programDemonstrate various cooking methods for common foods for staff to implement in the residences.Develop innovative and appetizing recipes to incorporate more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains for residents.Use the most current Dietary Guidelines for Americans to plan and implement nutrition education.Make weekly site visits to residential facility to ensure all dietary guidelines are followed.

Qualifications

BA—4 years (required) or MA—4 years (preferred).
