Performs variety of patient care, technical, and administrative duties to assist practitioners and other members of health care team in providing high quality patient care through health care system. The Medical Assistant Registered participates as a team member in the overall functioning of the clinic. The Medical Assistant Registered is responsible for the flow of the patients for assigned providers (as applicable) each day. They perform duties and procedures as described in the Primary Responsibilities section.

 

About the General Oncology Unit

Our general oncology nursing and medical assistant teams provide expert, specialized care for patients receiving assessment and treatment in a wide range of specialty areas, including women’s health, sarcoma, GI, THN, GU, ENT, renal melanoma, skin, endocrine, surgical and Phase 1 Clinics. Working collaboratively, team members in this unit care for both medical and surgical oncology patients, while also coordinating care and supporting patients’ families. 

Responsibilities Rooms patients and families to exam/procedure areaDocuments vital signs and other patient information per clinic policyAssists with procedures as directedConducts clerical tasks, patient transport, cleaning and restocking of exam rooms and other requests to maintain clinic flowRecognizes symptoms of common medical illnesses, abnormal vs. normal, and new/existing pain and immediately escalates to RN and/or providerActs as a liaison between patients/families and health care providers. Qualifications

Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent.Registration as a Medical Assistant - Registered in the State of Washington completed within the first 30 days.Surgical Technologist Registration in the State of Washington State and must be familiar with the State's conduct and standards of practice (Application must be submitted within 1st 30-days of hire)Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent course, such as by the American Red Cross) and renewal required every two yearsCurrent Healthcare provider CPR card6 months of healthcare experienceProficient in email and word processing systemsStrong interpersonal and customer services skillsAbility to work in a fast paced, complex healthcare environmentAbility to multitask, prioritize and problem solveAbility to communicate (verbally and in writing) in a clear and concise mannerAbility to follow direction and guidanceAbility to recognize limitations and seek helpAbility to identify learning needs and plan learning opportunities

Preferred:

12 months of Medical Assistant experience

The hourly pay range for this position is from $24.48 to $34.86 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.  

 

This position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus, up to $3,000.
