Registered Nurse, Cardiac Surgical Office

Sentara Heart Hospital located on the Campus of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is seeking an experienced RN for the Cardiac Cath Holding Pass Office!

This position is Full Time working four 10-hour days from 6am to 4:30pm or Five 8-hour days working 7am to 3:30pm or 8am to 4:30pm.   No weekends and no call required.

Up to $15,000 Sign on Bonus available for qualified candidates.   

Cardiac Pass Office Position Overview:
The Cardiac Pass Office Registered Nurse will complete phone assessment with patient; will review charts, lab work, ekgs, discuss patients’ meds, allergies, pre-chart before patient’s cardiac, lung, EP, Cath, or invasive procedure being done at the Heart Hospital at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.  RN will verify paperwork is in place for procedure, discusses what time to check in before the procedure and the ride home protocol.    


Good EPIC experience required.   Excellent communication and customer service skills.  Heavy phone contact with patients and physicians’ offices.

Registered Nurse must have 1+ years of patient care experience, cardiac experience, good critical thinking, and chart review experience.  

The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.

Education/Certification/Licensure: 
Diploma RN, associate degree RN, bachelor’s degree RN, or master’s degree RN. BLS Required within 90 days and ACLS required within 1 year of hire date.
RN License Virginia or Compact/Multi-State Eligible.
