Key responsibilities: + Pediatric Pulmonary Outpatient Assessment and Care: + Assist in patient assessment and developing personalized care plans to promote effective disease management. This may include medication plans, lifestyle modifications and medication adherence strategies. + Conduct individual and group education sessions for patients and their families on disease management and medication administration. + Monitor patient progress and adjust education plans as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes. + Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care to respiratory patients. + Administration of vaccines and biologic agents. + Coordinate and perform testing in our exercise and extreme environments lab. + Inpatient Care: + Work with pulmonologists or advanced practitioners to provide care to pulmonary patients admitted to the PICU, NICU or pediatric floor. + Coordination of care for discharge + Prior Authorizations and Prescription Refills: + Complete prescription refill requests efficiently, maintaining accurate records/documentation and communication with prescribers. + Coordinate with pharmacies and insurance companies to resolve any issues related to medications. + Manage and process prior authorizations for medications and treatments, ensuring timely approval and delivery. + Triage and Patient Communication: + Triaging patient calls, assessing the urgency of the situation. This will involve isolated pulmonary problems or multi-system disorders. Patients range from infancy to young adulthood, with calls coming from caregivers and older patients themselves. + Provide clear and compassionate communication, offering guidance and advice as needed. + Coordinate follow-up care and appointments based on triage assessments. + Collaboration and Professional Development: + Work collaboratively with pediatric pulmonologists, advanced practitioners, respiratory therapists, dietitian, social worker, and other healthcare professionals to deliver optimal care. + Stay current with the latest developments in pulmonary medicine and nursing research and participate in continuing education opportunities. + Contribute to the development and improvement of clinical protocols and patient education materials. + Opportunity to be involved in clinical research and become a certified asthma educator. Required: + Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program. + Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse. + BLS certification. Preferred: + Bachelor’s degree in nursing *All ASN must complete their BSN studies within five years of their start date. + Prior experience in Nursing or relevant area. + Master’s degree in nursing or related field. + PALS certification.
