A Registered Nurse (RN) in the Operating Room (OR) at Cleveland Clinic Tradition circulates a large variety of surgical cases in the 6-suite Operating Room Department, primarily in Neurosurgery, but also including other specialties such as general, robotics, vascular, orthopedic, and pediatric surgeries, following established standards, department guidelines and hospital policies and procedures. The opportunity to be trained as a scrub nurse is available. The RN will use their strong assessment and critical thinking skills to collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team in order to provide the best outcomes for each patient. This role plays an integral part in ensuring patient advocacy and safety.
The hours of this per diem position are variable, sometimes requiring 12-hour days, 6:30am to 7pm, and sometimes working partial shifts. The minimal overnight and weekend on-call requirements will be discussed in the interview. A minimum of 48 hours per six-week schedule is required.
Required qualifications for the ideal candidate include:
A MINIMUM OF ONE YEAR OF RN EXPERIENCE IN AN OPERATING ROOM IS REQUIRED.Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing. BSN preferred.Current state licensure as Registered Nurse (RN).Proof of Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) must be presented upon hire.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.Can critically think and problem-solve for patients’ best interestsCan provide emotional, spiritual, and psychological support to patients.Our caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities.
