Position Title: Registered Nurse
Department: Ambulance
Purpose: Primary responsibilities are to provide prompt and effective emergency medical care to patients of all ages in emergency and non-emergency situations who require stabilization and/or resuscitation as a result of illness or injury in the field. Provides care as set forth by the system protocols. Included in this care is administering medication to patients of all ages as needed per protocol, accurate documentation of the care provided. In scene management, will follow management structure as set forth by the Federal NIMS standards. Another primary responsibility is precepting students. As a teaching hospital, Genesis Medical Center has a relationship with Blackhawk College and other educational facilities and is responsible for assisting with education of EMT-Paramedic and Basic students in the prehospital and Emergency Department setting. Is responsible for decontamination, cleaning, and restocking of any equipment that has been utilized within the ambulance. In addition, functions as an Emergency Department Technician when not serving in the EMT-Paramedic role in the field.

Supervisory Responsibility: Guidance: The job requires the provision of occasional guidance and training to others. The job does not have formal or official supervisory responsibilities.
Materials Responsibility: Very Limited. Work requires very limited responsibility for material resources. Examples of resources could include personal work materials, supplies or equipment, or very small amounts of cash. The employee has a very limited or indirect amount of control over these resources. Although human error might require the repair or replacement of materials, usually the cost of correcting these errors is minor. The variety and volume of resources is also very limited. Problems associated with material resources are very uncomplicated.

Education: Associate's Degree
Field Of Study: Nursing
Special Training: Basic Life Support, ACLS
Training Preferred: NRP; PHTLS (Prehospital Trauma Life Support); EVOC (Emergency Vehicle Operators Certification); NIMS (National Incident Management System); Incident Command System 100, 200, 700; TNCC
Licensure/Registration: Registered Nurse in Illinois with PHRN or Registered Nurse in Illinois with state paramedic license, valid drivers license. Registered Nurse in Iowa within one year.
Experience: No experience required.
Interpersonal Skills: Interaction is with a variety of people inside or outside the organization. Communications are often difficult or stressful in nature. Contact with others involves complex, detailed and often sensitive topics. The job requires a high degree of interpersonal skills to deal with a range of complicated problem situations. Interactions involve gaining the agreement of others.
Working Conditions: There is routine exposure to highly adverse environmental conditions including physical hazards, health and safety risks, and otherwise undesirable characteristics in the environment. Personal risks require safety equipment or precautions to be followed closely. The time the employee is exposed to these conditions exceed 70% of their work day.

Pay Range: $32.25 - $49.00 per hour
Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
