While they must have their CNA the Behavioral Health Specialist has additional education, experience and skill set above that of a CNA. Behavioral Health Specialist provides individual and group education to patients and family. Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities Obtain vital signs and BGM's as directed by RN. Assist patients with activities of daily living as needed. Monitoring patient safety through 15 minute checks, precaution monitoring, patient and room searches. Provide individual and group psycho-education. Assist patients with completion of safety plans Help with explaining and completing legal documents and consents at admission. Education and Experience Associate's degree in human service related field and/or 3 years of behavioral health experience. Certification and Licensure Certified Nursing Assistant Approved CPR or BLS certification required within 90 days Verbal de-escalation, self-defense and control techniques training within 90 days. Specific vision abilities required by the job include frequent close vision. Occasional distance vision and ability to adjust focus. Level of Supervision Must possess the ability to both independently and as part of a team. Reports to and takes directive from registered nurse. Supervises No supervisory responsibilities.
